Remus Race with AA Midpipe Review (Video Clips)
I got my Remus Race and AA midpipe installed on Wednesday. I'll let the video clips do the talking but it's really difficult to capture how deep and loud this combo sounds. In terms of tone, there is absolutely zero rasp and it sounds pretty deep. I absolutely love it but Remus + AA mid is a bit too loud for me. I used to own an M4 Comp with MPE and I thought it was decently loud but this is quite bit louder. Throttle lift off, burbles, and cold start are all much louder and pronounced since AA mid deletes the secondary cats and the resonator. Also, Remus Race has minimal restriction in terms of volume as well. A lot of my friends (even B58 and N55 owners) highly complimented the setup and some of them even said this was the best sounding S55 they have heard. Unfortunately, as much as I love it, I also have to admit that the volume of this system is slightly above my tolerance level. Even with valves closed, it's noticeably louder than the stock exhaust. No drone by any means but I still would prefer something a bit more mild. At the end of the day, I came to the conclusion that I'm actually ok with the sound level and the tone of the stock exhaust and I just need to get rid of that muffler. I don't know what setup I'll end up getting next but I'm going back to stock for now. If anyone is interested, I listed my current setup for sale in classifieds here.
Here are some clips. The videos were originally recorded for Instagram so that's why most of them are in portrait mode. I also didn't have much time edit so please excuse the excessive and amateur blur Light revs: Mini rev battle with another M2C which had stock exhaust: Drive off: High RPM Revs: |

Wow, sounds great! Shame you can't tolerate the loudness of it, perhaps keep the AA Midpipe paired with the stock exhaust.

Definitely too loud. Why don't you try to pair the AA midpipe with the quieter Remus exhaust?

That is what I should have done probably but I'm done experimenting base on assumptions or videos. I'll just stay stock even though the tone of current setup is really good. Remus Race seems to add a ton of volume even just by itself so I'll probably go with something more mild in the future.

The way I sell things online is the first person at my door step with cash gets the item. I been burned way too many time holding things for people. I am sure OP might be the same!

one week of ownership so far. sounds great. no drone. only gets really loud when driving slow in neighborhoods. simple fix is to close the valves and it becomes more civilized.
thanks again!!

yes. it is a great combo. it can be loud on cold start but settles in after a few seconds. with the valves closed, they are pretty mild. with the valves open, they can be loud in city traffic or when driving aggressive. when cruising on the highway, there is no drone nor does it get overly loud (actually its just right - not too loud/not too soft).
