Race chip vs BM3

Forgive me as I'm new to this turbo car thing . I tried searching, but didn't find any good info.

Would anyone mind educating me about what the differences? If I understand a racechip is just a piggy back, not a full on tune? To me if a race chip gives me 500 HP with no mods, what more could anyone ask for?

- what's the difference?
- which one is better for my needs
- which is safer?

My goal. Just looking for a tad more power not looking to be the fastest, I enjoy doing HPDE, I have yet to in the car. Main thing is it would have to be reliable. I doubt I'll do any bolt ons, as I'm more interested in suspension/handling.

Thanks in advance, sorry for the ignorance.

Yeah imagine tricking a computer to give you more boost (piggy back), vs modifying the values in the computer so the boost, fuel, timing, etc. all works together (flash). A flash will feel like the car came like that from the factory, a piggy back will feel less "natural" and more surge-like.

The only reason you'd want to opt for a piggyback is if you want to retain warranty (harder to identify by dealership)

If you're looking for just a bit more power just reset throttle adaptions every week and maybe throw in a air intake panel.

You will perceive a greater improvement with a good set of coil overs rather than a tune imho. M2 is short wheel based, too much power and drivability suffers because of increased wheel spin in all gears.

If you're really dead set on a tune, wait for the M2 CS software to be available as thats the tried and tested OEM parameters best suited for the car.

Hi,
We offer both options. Bootmod3 is superior in every way.

Only advantage to Race chip is that you can remove it and sell it in the future for 50% what you got it for
