M2 to C63S
Hello,
Thinking of doing what's in the subject box, literally want feedback of people who have done the same or have driven a C63S I'm talking a Late 18' to 2020 model. All feedback appreciated. |

I had one month of time of a C63S sedan back in 2017. Here is my impression:
1) The power sensation is signficant, much more so than the S55. Torque is everywhere, the power on tap is so strong for a turbocharged car, or any car. And downshift at any time feels like full boost instantly. 2) It's NOT a loud car. But the AMG grunt is so unmistakable, great. There is no BMW turbocharged engine to match it, by far. 3) Brake is extremely touchy. The car I had has CCB in front and steel disc in the back, which is factory spec. Initial bite is one step up over 2NH M2C brake, which is already noticeably touchier than base blue brake. C63S brake is definitely one of the most touchy brake I've ever experienced of any car. There is no such thing as soft CCB brake when cold, probably due to the steel rear brake. 4) Suspension is firm. I wouldn't think it's a mercedes. The ride is much less compliant than its last gen. And firmer in my opinion firmer than the F80/82/87. 5) The chassis is holding it back. Driving fast, you feel the weight transfer, I have little confidence because the sub frame feels always struggling to keep up. Even with strong brake power, the sub frame doesn't seem to react to chassis movement quick enough. In summary, feels unsettle, and dealing with inertia all the time. 6) The sedan looks pretty lame. With new grille, it'd be significantly better, but it's not in the same league of F80/82/87. Though C63S coupe would be a different story. I'm addicted to V8TT power, but for an overall package, F80/82 would be the way to go for me in this segment.

I test drove the C63S and when I asked the salesman if any of the owners tracked their cars, he looked at me funny and said he’d never had an owner track one. That kind of sealed it for me. The C63S is not a sports car, as where an argument can be made for the M2. The C63S is more of a GT, but not really optimized for it. The engine is definitely more characterful. I can't see doing lots of track days in a C63, but if it's just a DD, sure.

1m to AMG C63s
I had a 1m and traded it in for 2019 C63s sedan. With trade in it cost me additional 23k. I got an 8k discount on the AMG. 1m was a super fun car but pretty bare bones in the luxury category. The C63s has tons of power and sounds great with the sport exhaust. Acceleration is super smooth and ample power is available at all speeds.
Handling is phenomenal and there are tons of settings and Sport and Race modes. The new Digital Dashboard has lots of configurations and looks great in all modes. Thats an option I would definitely recommend. They also made the Nav display wider and more horizontal so its a lot better integrated into the dash. It used to look awful before the 2019 models. Car is gorgeous inside and out. Interior is very comfortable and luxurious while also being very performance oriented. The seats look amazing and are very comfortable. Leather quality blows away what was used in the 1m. All the materials used in the interior are so far superior to the bare bones 1m. The Burmeister sound system is great and much better than I expected. I heard it used to not be great so sounds like its been upgraded. My car is white with black wheels, panoramic black sunroof and its one of the best colors for showing all the lines of the car. I like that this model has been out for a while so any mechanical issues have usually been fixed this late in the models run. The only thing I don't like is car doesn't have CD player which the 1m did and many of the settings are needlessly complicated and hard to access. The 1m was great with old school simple pre-sets for favorite stations etc. As beautiful as the AMG is it definitely doesn't get as noticed as my Valencia Orange 1m. Both cars are fun to drive and would love to get a M2 as an additional vehicle if the wife would permit. |

I just don't think you can compare the two and as others have said, they are very different cars at very different price points.
If i had the $$, i would go for a C63S because that sound is so intoxicating |
