The only tiny imperfections on the whole roof are on the left side in the middle almost . But you cannot see them even if you are close to the car in real life . You may see the "imperfection" but when you move a little hit and changes colour , seems normal . Honestly , i dont care about those imperfections , are so so tiny , in a roof that seems so beautiful , racing flag boxes , making great contrast with the colour of the car.
Each roof is different then , so each roof is unique . But , those imperfections , really are so few and small , but also cool since it seems like its handmade and they made each roof different ! It doesnt affect the car image at all !

That doesn't bother me. I'd keep it and not look back. I would document it with BMW so if there was ever an issue with the roof later on it was addressed at at the beginning of ownership.

And with a " enhancing " filter I didn't check the passenger side.

No car is the same as other , now thats unique ! haha
Seriously now , do you consider those tiny imperfections , a big deal ? Like , there are destroying the cars image? How minor or major defect is?

The pattern on the M2CS is larger than the M3/4 roof right? Wonder if they have similar issues on those roofs? Any similar issues with other manufacturers carbon items?

Thanks for posting Hedoniste.
Glad for all of you that the imperfections are only minor and quite discreet as regards visibility.

This is nothing. I have to reclear the Airboxes of my SCUD twice already due to whitening. In 997 porsches, due to heat, the CF trim pieces will become brittle, peel and lift off the plate.
What will concern me, and I am sure it will happen, is that the clear will peel off if you let the car sit under the sun repeated long periods. Its just a matter of when. But its an easy fix, just needs to be sanded and re-cleared.

My thought is tht some of this is being caused by varying thickness of the clear over the carbon and potentially different clarity of the coats that is enhancing slight skews of the weave. Might be a refraction index difference between clear layers.

Surprising though that BMW would miss it. I would not be surprised if ferrari did it, not too fond of their quality work, but a german manufacturer should have seen it. Probably it would take a lot of work to remove the roof and do the car all over again. |

Not a big deal for me. I thought I read in the forum somewhere that this issue may have been fixed in some later production models. Just wanted to share that I have a us spec and it has some minor imperfections. Nothing that catches the eye unless you’re looking for them.

Def haters on this car - but I think having the perceived issue out and the open is good and helps better inform people that might have small cases of OCD on whether or not they want to pursue a 85k purchase now or later knowing this might be a problem for them.

Might be my imagination, but I'm perceiving some commonality in the imperfections on the vehicles shown on this board and in some of the reviews. Majority seem to be in the middle of the roof (front-to-back), close to the edge (L-R), and generally running "long" (high aspect ratio) L-R rather than squarish or random blotches.
