Are you using it with an iOS or Android device? I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews on Amazon about how well it works with iPhones.

Using it with my iPhone. I haven't had any issues... though, I've only had it for 1 day.

Good to know.

(I'm thinking of ditching my WiFi dongle in favor of a Bluetooth one which is why I asked)

Idk how hard this would be to capture but would you be able to film with and without the fake engine noises and upload them for us?

I have Carly and it's been able to do most of what I wanted to do (turn ASD off, comfort fold the mirrors, get rid of the legal disclaimer screens). I'm tempted to grab Bimmercode since it looks like it has more options, but I'm feeling a bit cheap (probably due to the dent I made in my bank account buying the car). Does anyone know if Bimmercode will work with the Carly wifi adapter on an iPhone?

Reasons to turn ASD off:

1. I can now use the car as a daily driver and as an all-around family car. Before, I told my wife that there was no way we could ever use the car to do a long road trip - we'd be deaf by the end of the vacation. With ASD off, the car is as quiet as my 328i.

2. If you want to be able to have conversations with other people in the car, you will want ASD off.

3. There's a horrible drone at around 2000 RPM if you're holding steady on the throttle. So, you know, if you're going 70-80mph on the freeway, you're going to have this migraine inducing drone in your ears the entire time.

Reasons to keep ASD on:

1. ASD will make you feel like you're in the cockpit of a fighter jet when you're in Sport+ throttle setting and S3 transmission setting.

2. The increased noise is actually a really good shift indicator. Driving on switchbacks, I'll often shift into 2nd and take full advantage of engine breaking on some of the hairpin turns. And with ASD on, you KNOW when you need to shift up, because your ears are in so much pain, you better do it before they burst. When I was driving along in our neighborhood with ASD off, I wasn't really paying attention, looked down, and I was already above 5000 RPM. Car's as quiet as a mouse with ASD off!

3. Again... fighter jet...

I suspect that I'll turn off ASD whenever I'm commuting or taking the kids to the grandparents or whatever. I'll keep ASD on whenever I'm doing my weekend warrior thing in the mountains.
Have you tried comfort setting on the freeway? My 2018 M2 becomes a different vehicle in comfort, pretty quiet....

Oh, dude, I just tried to this morning, but was unsuccessful.

1. Tried filming and driving one-handed, and then decided best not to endanger the lives of innocent pedestrians. Hard to get to 4000 RPM, while aiming iPhone, while also trying to toggle between ASD on and off, via bimmerlink app

2. Next, tried filming while parked on the street. But, no discernible difference between ASD on and off while in park!

If I can get someone to sit and film while driving, will definitely upload to Youtube and then post. May take some time to find someone to do this with.

Would ask the wife... but can't take her rolling her eyes at me anymore. It would be like her asking me to sit and go through fabric patterns with her...

Hey man, definitely, it is quieter in comfort. But, still relatively loud. Like comfort mode in M2C is louder than Sport+ mode in 328i. I guess I just got used to my 328i?

But, literally, with ASD off, you can be in Sport+ mode, and it's as quiet as the 328i in comfort mode.

If you have someone turn it on and off while your driving you will really hear the difference. For a while I also was running with the exhaust closed and you could really hear the difference even more. Now I have the exhaust set on auto and the ASD off. Used a sound meter and its 70DBA @70 mph in comfort . Probably the same as my OG was with the same settings. As I have said I think the whole sound/ noise thing is way over done! Funny thing is my GT4 is 88dba under full throttle but it sings even for an old fu-k like me. Carl

I would like to enable easy access to 32 shortcut keys instead of 8.

Using BimmerCode, does anyone know how to disable the following warning when changing profiles:

"Are you sure you wish to change the profile? Seats / Steering Column May move."

Then you use shortcut button 1 to take you into another profile with 8 shortcut buttons there

Thanks

What causes the 2000 RPM drone? Sorry I’m not up to speed on these newer cars.

I don't know what causes the drone at 2000 RPM. Though, someone mentioned that they thought it was the ASD. Which is what prompted me to download BimmerLink and get an adapter to turn it off.

When ASD is off, the drone is gone.

It's magical!

Wink Carplay FSC activation code

I also lost navigation after bimmercode and cannot download map update because it is updated over the air using my cars sim. I did however change my region from CA to TX hoping it would download the new maps, after two days of waiting nothing happened . I wanted Carplay on my car and reach out to a guy selling carplay USB FSC kit from ebay. I ask him if this would also clear my navigation activation code, he said yes. Purchased the kit and was sent an email with a file to be transferred to a usb, inserted the usb to my car - after a restart navigation was back. Now i have something to clear activation code whenever bimmercode deactivates my navigation.

I think I've coded it correctly but I'm not having any luck getting the mirrors to auto fold on lock and auto unfold on unlock. I'm using bimmercode. Before I go out there and try again, anyone had any luck with this? It looks like the only success story above on the mirrors was using Carly.

I've done it. You usually tie it to comfort lock and the comfort like time delay. I set mine to 1/2 second.

Yeah, no idea but it's working now. I have it set to no delay. I'll code it to 0.5s. Thanks.

Well, apparently, there are 2 apps that do different things! And both apps are by the same developer.

I'm using both Bimmercode and Bimmerlink. Bimmerlink to turn off ASD and to keep the exhaust flaps open. Bimmercode for everything else. With these 2 apps, you can customize the hell out of everything. I'm too much of a wuss to do anything more than a few minor adjustments.
