Because the CS is a limited edition drivers car. It's focused on the driving experience and is literally an all time great BMW. It has won car of the year and drivers car of the year on multiple occasions. What really sets it apart is in a time where most manufacturers are looking at tech, fuel economy, who has the biggest numbers, BMW did the opposite, they made incremental adjustments to hone in on what enthusiasts want while not making an overly flashy, look at me, car.
The G8X cars right now are a mass produced car that is meant to appeal to a wider audience. It is still a BMW through and through. I absolutely love the way it drives. It has excellent power delivery (though much different than the S55 tune) and the biggest improvement is the suspension geometry, it's simply amazing.
But here's the caveat, it's a car that casts a wide enough net that it isn't as special as the M2CS. The car is freaking huge and you can feel it behind the wheel. Also, the elephant in the room are the looks. Gone are the aggressive and sophisticated lines of the F series M cars and instead you get a hodgepodge of angles, creases, lines that don't connect and bizarre ideas that make sense only in a tik tok world.

You will be on the complete opposite side of history if you don't think the G80 is a downgrade to the M2CS. It's understandable though as I don't think you have spent time in either of those two cars.

A lot of people traded their E30 M3 in for a nice shiny E36 M3 also. Again, wrong side of history but who knew back then? The difference is most of us M2 CS owners know now. There isn't a BMW I would trade the M2 CS for period. Maybe a 911 but that's just because I didn't want the BMW anymore. Sorry I'm rambling...anyway

With that said, I would trade my M2C in on a newG80 i a heartbeat. I've driven both and hands down G80 is a better car.

Problem is I traded the M2C in for cash a while ago. Just wanted to dump that car.

I meant more like these ones. Similar final hurrah genre.

We never got HSV's in the USA. Although TBH it's not incredibly difficult to modify up to one. They were generally just some different body cladding, better engine, and brakes.

Are we really talking about sedans and Cadillacs in this thread when the OP won’t bother to post his sales price? Boy this forum is going downhill.

They gave me 88k dealer trade in- wasn’t interested in maximizing my trade and more about getting rid of the financial responsibility.

Have you seen what they are trying to sell it for? ...Or do you not want to know?

$88k on trade is good, even if they sell it for $100k, maybe more. Given that Colorado is 7.6% sales tax on autos, $88k on a trade is still going to save a lot just based on the tax savings. Sure, he'd be 'up' if he sold it $100k private, but that's also more work for only a couple more grand in profit.

Oh I know - doesn’t bother me, it’s been listed for almost a month now so I imagine they can get in the mid 90s

I don’t see it that way. I think cars are purpose:individual based. For me, the m2 cs is all time the best car I’ve owned for the canyons and just driver experience. Thousand percent better than the g80 in that environment

With our pending move away from the mountains, I need something more daily driver friendly where I can comfortably fit a baby and feel like she’s safe in it while still providing a great driver experience. And in a florida type environment straight line speed inarguably goes to the M3 comp with that new platform that’s just scratching the surface of potential.

Still not the biggest fan of the grill but the CSL grill looks pretty good and hopefully you can retro it

This dealer is pricing a 3k mileage, blue/gold, 6MT, steel brakes for $120!
https://www.bmwofbridgewater.com/use...ca94d57925.htm

Has a few minor mods, black rear reflector, black rear badge, red M1/M2 buttons, black painted emblems, carbon steering wheel insert (probably all IND-Distribution).

Personally, as much as I love my CS, at that price a Cayman GT4 or GT4 RS isn't far off either.

Keep in mind the markups in the Porsche world. Nobody is getting into a GT4 for 120k right now, never mind the RS.

Cadillac is one of the last cars on the planet I ever thought I would drive, but I am definitely intrigued by the CT4-V BW. It looks like a helluva kit.

It seems they positioned the size of the CT4 directly between the M2 and the M3.

Curious to hear a comparison of the CT4-V BW and the M2C.

981 GT4s are available in that price range but 718 GT4 RS will be closer to 2x M2 CS, if you can get one at all. (I've had deposits down on them since 2015(!) and 2017 and I still don't expect to get one.)

But, personally, I believe the M2 platform, even in CS mode, is a different car from a GT4.

I didn't have enough time to give a great comparison with my CS, but I would say the steering was lively and had indications of decent feel. It felt lighter on its feet than I was expecting, and definitely felt more M2 than M3 in the way it moved. The V6 had a great note and response with fantastic delivery in the parts of the curve I was in. They didn't have the manual to drive at the event. We were also on the steel brakes, which were great and linear response. Tires were shot so it pushed a bit, but it would rotate lightly with a little bit of throttle etc - really well balanced. I'm not sure it's quite the same level of drivers' car that the M2 is, but my impression was it was darn close. Had a much superior interior and tech options etc. Looked rather good as well with all the trim they added to it.
