Seeing the used market holding strong i was thinking of unloading mine after last event at Watkins in October. Having second thoughts as it may continue to appreciate if next gen is not received well . Any thoughts

Depends on what you mean by long term. 20+ years, sure, it'll be worth a bit. However, the new M2 puts too much risk on it short/mid-term for my tastes. So I traded mine for profit while it's still worth over what I paid for it. Finally, I couldn't see myself hanging onto the car forever unlike some of the older BMW's i've been wanting for years.

There's one of FB that's selling for slightly below MSRP and isn't selling. The used market is coming back down to earth. It will be curious to see what the CS does.

With the uproar on how much more expensive the CS was in comparison to the Comp, I can see the CS getting love from the buyer's market in 5yrs. But it's too early to think the CS is appreciating over what it is now.

What's the spec of the CS? DCT? Mileage? A few CS's have sold on here 90-$95K recently. Autotrader has active listings from $90-$119K.

I think people will get excited about crazy HP BMWs, Mercs and Audis coming out. Plus 500-1000+HP EVs will be everywhere in 5 years. This may detract from a 444HP sports coupe.

It won't take long for people to realize that a car well over 2 tons with >600HP isn't that much fun on the street unless your willing to go to jail.

We won't see GT3 type appreciation, but I think the CS will hold its own regardless of the market. Especially the 6MT models in 10 years, when the 6MT will be essentially extinct.

DCT and 5k miles. Personally, I think DCT is much less desirable for this car and think the transmission is holding it back in this sale.

That's a great looking CS. Not sure what I would buy for even $100K to replace it.

Cayman GTS/GT4, but I need rear seats.

Or a G80 base 6MT with some mods, but I think the CS looks better.

Unless you're looking to cash out and downsize or go a completely different route, what would you get?

I'm selling my 2015 F80 for a profit after buying and driving it for the last 6 months. Already first on the list for the 2023 G87 M2. That will be the first BMW I buy new and one that I will never sell. The last new model ICE 6spd BMW will produce.

718's are selling well over. Even my buddy got offered 10k over on the 718 GT4 and open MSRP allocation on the 992 GT3.

I’m sorry but that’s not true here in Australia :

Case in point a 2020 DCT Cs with 5000km sold here in a Perth BMW Dealership in 3 days $20k AUD above new retail price .

Other Cs listed in Australia are all selling at a premium of at least $20-30k AUD .

And by the way have you driven a CS DCT ?

I love manual gearbox cars but the DCT so suits the CS power and torque of the tweaked S55 engine (on the road and the track) .

And by the way those HP and Torque figures quoted by BMW are way way conservative .
AutoBild in Germany put a Cs through a technical test for HP and Torque and the Engine came very close and almost equaled a F82 M4 GTS .

US market is exact opposite from ROW markets. Manuals for cars like this are just far more desirable.

Even so, in 20 years, do you really want the DCT version of the car when everything is electric? There's a reason why the E46 M3 CSL's are one by one being converted to manual, and SMG M5's are largely worthless. Over time collectors want the stick. I get it, the DCT is good, but as more cars turn into electric idiot boxes with possibly only one pedal, collectors are going to desire manuals.

I’ve considered selling mine but then it’s like what for? The g80 M3 Comp is a monster and it seems like tuning is around the corner. Moving back to florida where there aren’t canyon roads so having a gt monster in a state predominately highways would be cool. Not to mention I got my CS with a newborn which probably wasn’t the smartest choice. As she grows I feel the allure of the sedan again. Then there’s the idea of owning my cs since new and getting the itch again in five or ten years and not being able to find one as clean. The specialness/rarity of the car helps but not like Porsches

I’m not worried at the slightest about the new m2. It’s going to look like garbage.

We don't know the future because there's a revolutionary change coming (electric).

Say whatever makes you happy but in reality we don't know. I think that DCT will be more valuable because of its versatility.

It will be definitely less garbage than the Wild Boar G80. There's no ugly grille.

In Switzerland there are still very expensive one year later but didn't sell… (18 cars).
The lowest price for a used Misano Blue DCT M2 CS is the same price I paid for mine (brand new) one year ago and the cheapest one are like 8-10k less than new with max 10k miles.
There is still 4 brand new CS (none are Misano) and there are as expensive as used G82.

It's a CS, so independent of the timescale you're looking at, it won't be going underwater. Temporary bubbles may burst however.

All the above depends on not having messed* with it?
