I've been getting faster around Eagles Canyon and felt that the Indy 500s were starting to hold me back. I knew I wanted new tires but the options at 19" were limited. This led me down a path that I'm thankful many others here have already ventured down because I was able to find plenty of information.
Thanks to another fellow forum member I now have a set of dedicated track wheels. Square set up Apex EC-7r in satin black 18x9.5 et28 Toyo R888R 275/35r18 I decided to switch to kind of an intermediate tire(?) before committing to full blown race slicks that I'll need to change at the track. Because of that I chose Toyo R888R, which in my research showed to be a rather polarizing tire. Wherever you search about this tire you either hear about how it is great on track, but you also see a lot about how it's not truly a track tire, and more of a drag tire. Whether or not that's the case with the toyo r888r matters very little to me, as I plan to only use this set to get used to a grippier softer compound. My next set will be hoosiers or some other slick that I will pack in the back and change at the track. Anyways here's some pictures I took from my iPhone. Plan to hit the track this Saturday to test them out, maybe I'll bring my camera with me and try to get better photos. |
