Again been a while since an update

Done a Bedford day back in October 21, brake upgrade made the world of difference, so-much-so managed to keep a tuned & mapped M2 comp very honest.... video below of 2 laps

Jumping to 2022 after a little break went on a buying and modifying spree

Apex ARC8 18" x 10 & 11"
265 & 295 Nangkang AR1
2016 Recaro SPA seat (so now I've a shape matching pair)
Gold wrapped the intake again using Funk Motorsport foil
Annual Engine and Diff oil service
Custom made a "GTS" style arm rest with genuine alcantara to match
Endless ME22 rear pads & removed backing plate to help with heat
68mm rear studs down from 75mm to save on grams as not running spaces on the rear
Lowered steering column 8mm

Messed around with the Mumbury brake ducts, was never happy at how far away that sat from the OEM disc and the AP's are even further out.

Kit came with spacers only for the top fixing and bolted straight to the hub at the bottom and used button head bolts, got hold of some more alloy rod and some long counter sunk bolts to move things closer.

Ended up being around 24mm closer in the end

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

And chopped them back a little to let more heat excape

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Still having a little trouble routing the 2" ducting to it, too many moving parts to get a clean route so it ends up chewing up the piping.

Gold in the bay again, going to get a charge pipe from Hack Engineering as apparently these are a weak spot... will be gold wrapping that too.

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Lastly got hold of my dads roof bars off his F34 that were gathering dust in the shed

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Part numbers didn't match between saloon and coupe models but thought would give them a go, turns out the front rails are a touch too wide... nothing a little drill and grinder won't fix.

Some overdue updates again

Snetterton 300 back in March, had kind of fell out of love with Snetterton for no piacular reason, didn't even do any sessions there in 2021 but this last day converted me, had a blast!

Managed a 2:08 which matches the best in my old M3 set on 245 BTCC slicks

Ever since getting this car I'd say would never cage it... now look

But I knew if I did it would only be a bolt in half cage, after all I'm not going racing.

An what better to go for than a Pinnacle Motorsport T45 tig welded cage, that all fixings are internal and completely reversible. Also believe saved circa 8kg with the cage compared to rear seats, belts and latches ect.

Supplied and fitted by Swift Performance

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Will be audio carpeting the rear when free time allows

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Pinnacle design of the cross gussets gives an ideal spot for a camera mount, milled out the centre grove on a Gopro pad and added some hole to cable tie it down too

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Lightweight and tidy, just how I like it

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

View from the camera... annoying to not see the backs of the kevlar Recaro anymore but that's no biggy

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Lastly chucked in some BMW wheel badges to the Apex, have never ran these with centre caps before but this is a vibe... will of course remove them for track as they will only pop out and disappear.

Next track day is not till Players Classic at Goodwood on June 18th, although may try squeeze a Donnington day in May if funds allow.

Keen eyes will notice these are top mounts for an M4 (& M4 reinforcement plates), in fact the whole kit is for an M4, reason for that is KW only make clubsport coilovers for an M2 in 3-way and they're £1200 more than 2-ways, plus I would have only gotten very confused with high and low speed adjustments and just didn't think it was needed for a road car.

M2 being exactly the same subframes and arms ect from an M4 means the kit is a straight fit

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Going back to what I said a moment ago that the M4 suspension was a straight fit, that wasn't 100% true... I loose my factory strut brace as they bolt directly to the top mounts and not the strut towers, I couldn't live with that and another blessing of the M4 kit is that I can run the fancy carbon strut brace.
Really enjoyed reading the build so far. Thanks for that!

You made me choose the M4 2way now. Will order tomorrow, but prob without the s55 brace.

How big is the difference for you stepping up from 9,5/10,5 to 10/11? Thinking of running a Trofeo square with either 9,5 or 10.

Unless you really want to I'd always go staggered over square. But if you do I'd go 10" otherwise you're making it narrower at the back than stock.

Spent the Bank Holiday Monday doing a job that I'd been meaning to do for a while.

Putting a finer grill behind the factory grills to stop stone strikes. Know this is a common problem as it happened to my mate on his first track day, so think I've been on borrowed time.

Managed to hide pretty much all of the cable tie fixing.

Few people have said keep an eye on temps, luckily have my AK motion gauge/screen that has all live temps and records peak.

At Donington this Monday so we'll see.

I need to follow in your footsteps with the mesh—I have collected my fair share of rubber balls/debris. In one instance, something even hit the side hexagon plastics hard enough to break one.

Question for ya on swapping from Protrack to Apex—was this for aesthetics reasons or something else? I've wanted a set but we can't get them [affordably] in the US. They seem to be excellent for the price and have a great touring car look.

Always had ARC8 on my E46M so when they came out with 11" rears I had to go for a set.

Nothing against the Protracks, very good wheel for the money, they have become the go-to wheel over here.

Appreciate that. Maybe some day they'll get a US distributor and I can pick up a set for street/rain use. Last I chatted with them, they said they could barely hold onto the demand in the EU market—good for them.

Love the build—I feel we're on similar paths. Never give up the chrome.

I settled for 10" w 265 trofeos. How did the car handle for you w a square setup? Because for me the regular staggered is giving me too much understeer on Nordschleife.

After my 3 year journey with the M2 I got bored.

Wanted to get back to a more analog thrill and something I wouldn't burn through a set of tyres in two track days, so I put the M2 back to stock and moved it on

It's replacement is a 1995 BMW E36 "M3" S50B30

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

Will start another thread for the build.
