If BMW wants to replace them, what's the harm? My old F80 got new plugs at 12k, but it was 3 years old. BMW doesn't go strictly by mileage, so why get in the way, especially with no cost?

Mine was also at 3 years, probably 8000km. Bmw's interval is every 3 years or a set mileage.

Yeah the EU guide lines are fricken crazy, maybe it is tied to emissions and trying to reduce pollution (which is insanely stringent in the EU). Even with bmw long life low oxidation oils it would never make it that long with that many miles before being too depleted of additives, too oxidized and too acidic to protect your engine.

It is really unusual to get maintenance outside your cars required service intervals over here in EU. Although personally I do an annual oil change regardless of the interval… for the M2C this means every 10k km fresh oil |

I wonder if that will change now that the alcohol content is going up in European fuels.

Yes, my experience also. 13K miles, third oil change. I did not argue, as it was my last visit with covered maintenance (3 years), and as pointed out it is not a small job on the S55.
FWIW, Mike Miller's Lifetime Maintenance guide recommends a 30 - 45K mile interval for "modern turbocharged BMW engines." However, this was last updated (AFAIK) in 2013, so well before the S55.

Yeah, the owner's manual states "every 3rd oil change (approximately 30K miles)." I've never heard of time-based vs. mileage-based spark plug changes before.

My M2C turned 3 in July with 9k miles. I was refused a third oil change as last one was only 11 months and 3k miles prior.
At 3.25 y/o and almost 10k miles they told me I needed oil change, air filter and new plugs. Not covered by warranty🤬 Oil✅Air filter✅Spark plugs??? Seems somewhat premature. I do my own “maintenance” in those areas so no big deal but might hold off on the plugs a while longer. Thoughts. TIA |

I think I'd have a talk with the GM. They should have changed the oil and the spark plugs. At the 3 year service my car had 6,000 miles and 11 months since the last oil change. They changed the spark plugs and the oil under the maintenance warranty.

Oil changes on the maintenance plan are mileage OR time, so you should have gotten that. I would call and complain. |
