Open Car Transport Recommendations

Looking to do a car transport and was hoping to get some recommendations.

Anyone have a good experience with a company that does open transport?

I had my X3 shipped from NC to CT using MoverJet earlier this year. Transport was done in less than 24 hours. Worked with Alice and was extremely pleased. Highly recommend.

Not much experience but do have one watch out. My friend bought a X3M out of state and had it shipped back to Cali so he didn’t have to drive it. It went open transport and when it arrived every bug on stuck to the front of the car. Also had one minor chip in the windshield that was alleged to not be there prior. Just something to consider, really couldn’t tell you if this is common or an anomaly.

Had an M Coupe shipped cross country by a bunch of sketchy Russians who clearly didn't care about scuffing the fangs up front, getting grease and dirt all over the car, and incidental scuffs / scratches. That's simply the risk you take with open transport.

When I had my M2 shipped from Chicago to Pitt I used Americargo (https://americargoinc.com) - they were recommended by the dealer and were quick and very thorough when inspecting the car at delivery. They take a bunch of photos when they pick up the car and do a written inspection noting any issues and you walk the car with them at delivery. I luckily didn't have any issues and requested a spot on the top of the truck to avoid any road debris. The car was alittle dusty but no scratches or anything.

If you go closed container I would recommend InterCity Lines.

Good luck!

If it's a car you value, I'd only go enclosed. Not only for the environmental protection, the drivers are normally more attentive as well.

Recently used Montway. Had a good experience. Pretty fair rates, options for open or closed transport, professional, insured, and on-time.

But you can never go wrong with sketchy Russians tho...

My M2 is currently in open transport with TCI logistics. From Florida -> Texas. They picked up the car today (The seller was attentive while loading onto the trailer). Supposed to arrive to Texas in 4-5 days. Fingers crossed. Online does have a lot of negative information about transportation companies and how they handle situations IF there was damage.

Anyway, I will update in a few days when car has arrived.

Thanks everyone! This is very helpful 😃

I'll call around to some of the places mentioned above.

I'm looking to transport a 1998 e36 M3 Sedan!

Thanks again!

I did SF > Denver earlier in the year through Intercity Lines (https://intercitylines.com/). Their closed transport rates were very reasonable, and since they're the carrier and not a broker you're not going to get contracted out to the lowest bidder (as so many others in the thread have been). Only issue is that they might take a little longer than a broker, again, since they've got a fleet they run themselves.

If you decide to go Closed transport dm @I_Shipanycar on insta. He talked me through the whole way, gave me updates and it got from California to PA in 3 days. Great guy to deal with, and not a scratch on the car.

How did you make out with this shipper?

I use Montway. About a buck a mile. Can give you my brokers name, fast and responsive.

They all pool from the same group of haulers for the most part. You don’t really deal with the driver except at delivery.
