If it's not how it came from the factory, it's modified. Which part are you questioning? |

Are you honestly telling me if both cars were available at the same time, and for 5k more you were getting all of the upgrades the m2C has you wouldn’t take that deal? Because I drove an m2 in 2018 and fell in love with it... but when I heard the comp had addressed all the issues I foresaw with it ... I made my buying decision. It was mostly timing for me. I probably would have bought the 18 m2 if I didn’t have a free company car at the time. But if I had bought it... I’d personally would have been pissed that they upgraded the comp so much, at such little additional cost |

Let me make it simple. If they were the SAME price I would pick an OG M2. But I use my car for a nice daily, not a track car. |

As an original M2 owner, I don't dispute that the M2C is a lot better. If I had to do it over again, no doubt I'll take the M2C. But since I got mine long before the M2C was announced, of course I'm going to stick with the OG.
However, it wasn't worth trading the original M2 for the M2C. Of course I wish I have the M2C now, but I'm not going to make the switch because if I'm going to get a track car, I'm going to keep the M2 as my fun DD while getting a dedicated track/weekend car. Hopefully I can get a 981 GT4 in a few years as the dedicated track car, or if I can't, I'll get an American car such as a Camaro ZL1 1LE, C7 Grand Sport, or Shelby GT350R all while keeping the OG M2 as my fun daily.

I mean I don't know man, some regions don't get mirror fold on lock, some do. If it's changed via software to be identical to factory spec of another region is it *really* modified? All that's happening is matching OEM hardware has its software updated to also to match OEM software. We are not talking about chopping off the cats here, bolting on a bigger turbo, or installing a new after market amp and speakers. |

But to the letter of the law, no M2C came with the hp you speak of, so it's not stock, regardless of the engine. And if you know anything about showroom stock racing, that's the sort of thing that would put you out of it. |

This thread again huh? Shocking
I own neither, but I'd highly consider the M2C (love the CS and it's really BMW getting back to their roots, but I think it's a little too pricey). For me, the reason I personally wouldn't consider the OG is because I much prefer the power delivery of the S55. Having driven both a few times, I got out of the Comp thinking this car is just about perfect, although that equal length exhaust on the M4 forums would be very tempting. It's really no different than my current M cars. I really enjoy my E36 M3 S52. It is surprisingly torquey, sounds great and I love that it's reliable (hmmm quite similar to the M2 OG isn't it...). But I'll never pretend it has anything on the S54 in my Z4MR, especially on the top end. The way these cars pull at the top end is an M signature for me, and the S55 has that IMO.

Sound? Don't care (But I'll give you that one) Wheels= Upgrade (2M wheels are boring) Real M interior, electronics & seats = Upgrade No fee CarPlay = Upgrade Real M Steering wheel with M1 & M2 buttons = Upgrade Mirrors = Upgrade Front clip & tail lights = Upgrade Cow utter = Mental upgrade, reminds my I'm not driving a 2M everyday Increased price? Happy to pay slightly more. Didn't have to wait on a list or pay MSRP. Actually got a discount, plus it's newer (2020) with more warranty. M2C for the win, didn't know we were still stirring the pot |

To each his own, opinion and desires.
I liked the M2 and enjoyed driving it at the BMW PC but timing led to my M2 Comp. I like the edgy more aggressive front end styling, I like the wheels and mirrors to set it apart. The interior and seats are a bit more special. The M buttons add more flexibility in settings as well. And the Sunset Orange really stands out. Yes the OG M2 sound is better, fantastic with a Dinan exhaust. But the M2C is OK and better than early M3s/M4 S55s in my opinion. It may not have the low end torque of the N55 but it begs for mid range pulls all day long.

I've actually got mad respect for the M2, M2C and 1M (shame BMW couldn't name it M1). I get the OPs opinion and yours. I'm seriously worried about what BMW will do with the next generation. I'll be waiting for the M2C of it also if there is a waiting list. Last time I was 23rd in line for a OG M2 Not doing that again, waiting is a bitch! Plus, if it doesn't come in a respectable color of red I'm out! Lastly, for all those I've wired up along with way I was just goofin' Hope I didn't give anyone too much heartburn! I'll pick a different topic next time Last edited by Killed by Death; 09-02-2020 at 11:30 AM.. |

I think the M2C is an objectively better performing car. The seats, mirrors and carbon strut brace were really nice adds. Personally I don't like the front clip as much (connected grille and the vents at the bottom of the bumper aren't my style), but hey, I actually prefer the look of the pre-LCI taillights and cluster, so who am I to judge.
On the S55 vs. the N55, yeah, the S has more power, and starts with the "right" letter. The OG M2's N55 sounds great and is probably the pinnacle of what BMW could do with that engine. If I had to chose between the two today, I'm not sure which direction I'd go. However, I do know of all the other cars currently being sold (new cars), it would be one of the two. The performance, the feel, 6MT available, at the price, it's just hard to beat, and I'm glad BMW's still offering it in one form or another. And, if we're throwing out some photos...
