Open to suggestions!
A good shop should be able to replicate the finish. It's def more expensive to fix it than a regular wheel, we're talking in the $300+ range.
My car is HS not AW, but I think it will look equally good on a AW car.
Also, black is always the answer lol.

Triple bronze, no clearcoat from prismatic powder. Had the rims refurbished while the car was at the shop getting the m perf suspension kit and GC camber plates fitted. I don't have better pics, car still at the shop, I was sent the OG M2 camber plates by mistake.

I think they will look cool in broad daylight.

I must be in the minority to think that the OEM 788M Black actually is quite nice.
I do understand the want for gloss black wheels. They do look nice; Hell my previous 3 cars had gloss black wheels.

For better or worse, the 788M is quite complex. And I think the two tone keying of the wheels really help shows its feature/shape. Whether you like the feature/shape is another story. So in this regards, I feel painting it gloss black is an attempt hide it feature in this case.

As these are all subjective. As long as you are happy OP, that's all it matters

I have to admit after kind of trashing the 788M they do look surprisingly good in bronze. Could be a good look on a black M2C.

That's the problem with the 788M's, they're too busy looking and have way too many spokes for their own good. It's literally a ten double-spoke wheel. If it were seven or eight it would look way better, but with ten double-spokes it looks silly IMO. Coating them in all black tones things down nicely.

I'm picking mine up on Saturday after an airbag recall nightmare and based on your pics, I'm having the wheels powder coated as we speak. Just not a fan of silver "not so black" wheels on a silver car. I realize black wheels have been overplayed, but it's the look I want and that's what matters Can't wait!
Go silver with smoked clear coat.

Going with this for sure now. Thanks!

Wonder though if it'll look nice on HS.
Also going to add a clear coat to make it glossy.

How do painted wheels hold up vs powder coat?
It’s a bit easier for me to go the painted route, so curious.

I wasn't a fan of the 788M wheels in any color at launch, but they have totally grown on me. Of course a little Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour has saved my cleaning sanity.

I think they look great all black and bronze!

If done correctly, Powder Coating is a better option as it is more durable and won't scratch like paint.

Painted wheels are more prone to rock chips. I bet if everyone looked closely enough at their stock wheels next time they wash the car they’d find at least one or two chips within the first few months of ownership. A chip on the black barrel really sticks out since the primer is a light gray. Powder coat however is really durable and looks just as good years later as the first day. It’s almost like paint and PPF all in one.

Not bad but 1 day of brake dust will just make them matte black again

Yeah but only on the fronts at first. So it looks like different finishes on front and rear. Talk about custom wheels!

I use a de-greaser first. That generally loosens up the hard to reach spaces. I also tried using https://adamspolishes.com/products/a...SABEgL6IPD_BwE thing to clean the barrels but in all honesty, it's a major PITA.

Dragon breath (have to buy it online it from Europe). Literally the best wheel cleaner I have ever used. A couple sprays of that thing and following the instructions, and built up grime just falls away
