You don’t need a wider tire on the front, than the factory set
Go for 245 front and 255 rear.

Thanks. But 255 is much cheaper. That's why I am trying to avoid 245/265. But to be sure 255 will fit the front and rear wheels?

I am running Nokian 245 front and 255 rear.

Not officially homologated for the car, but they fit on the stock rims.

I ended up getting the new Kumho Wintercraft WP72 tire for my M2C. It's offered in the stock 245/265 size with a 'W' speed rating. Will be throwing them onto a set of MY18 wheels once the temps consistently drop down below 50F.

I definitely get winter, it's 2 months of temps that get below freezing but only 3, 4 days tops of snow. So if it snows I'm just going to take the bus to work. Otherwise I'll drive gingerly on the MPSS's in the cold.

After wishing to have Michelins PA4 I found out, there were nothing on stock across all shops in my country, after that wanted to stick to Conti TS830 and I had the same problem. Both of those options are very good and I have them for 3 seasons on my other cars, full satisfaction.

Finally I had to go to set of Pirelli Sottozero´s 2series and after some driving in temperatures below 5°C, they are not bad also, we will see also how it performs in snow... They are surprisingly quiter than Michelins (both dry and wet surface) with little bit lower grip on wet (done really crazy oversteer - but this was driver mistake mainly).

Dealer just told me I can only go with 19” 641M blacks, which come with Alpins. I ordered the set, over $3k. Ouch, but I should be set up. HTH.

I was just looking at those. I can't find any less painful wheel options.

I got stuck in less than 2 inches of snow, trying to put car in the garage yesterday, less than 15 feet away.. #TrueStory

Michelin PSS will murder you if you use them in a snow belt climate.. I just takes one patch of "black ice" and you become a 3,500lbs uncontrollable skate board..

My plan is four square, front wheels on winter tires, so I could rotate them..

I just confirmed that set up works without a compromise..

haha same story here. just couldn't get it to roll into the garage. stuck 3 feet had to be pushed the door.
just to confirm here, you're saying a 245 square setup will work? (front yes of course but the rear?)
what tires you going with?

Yes, I knew the front size wheels would fit the back but I was concern about how it would look.. But based on the picture below, I don't see much of a difference..

Also, I hit a winter pothole and bubble a good front tire, at least once per season.. It's like a curse.. So it's nice to be able to rotate the damage tire to the back, to wear it out (or do random burnouts) before I replace them.. I know, crazy logic but it makes me feel better..

The part number for the front wheels are: 36112284755.

I just installed Pirelli Sottozero 2 winter tires in stock sizing. These tires work great! A little expensive, but so far so good!

Initially I thought of these:

Rims: BMW M Style 641M Black Tires: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4* (Non run-flat)
Rim Dimensions • Front / Rear: 8.5J x 19 | 9J x 19 Tire Dimensions • Front / Rear: 235/35R19 91W | 235/35R19 91W

But when I found out that the weight is that much:
The 8.5x19's are 13.18 kg and the 9x19's are 13.8 kg.
I have made a decision to avoid those at any cost.

I will fit 245 + 265 winter tires on the 763 rims as those are SIGNIFICANTLY lighter rims, which will ensure better comfort on winter bumpy roads.

Quick report regarding snow tires. I purchased the BMW approved 641 M wheels (in satin black) along with Michelin Alpin tires in 235 square set up, I believe. Just had a nice storm here in upstate New York to test them out. I was extremely impressed with their performance in wet, slushy snow. Had no trouble maintaining traction in six inches of fresh white stuff. Braking was also excellent. Obviously they give up quite a bit in dry traction. I found cheaper alternatives on some non-OEM wheels, but didn't want to worry about the caliper clearance issue.

Thanks, Quietmind, that's a comfort as I just bit the bullet on similar:

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/6...EL----TIRE-SET

The "factory approved" M2C set is 235/35 front and rear, so I guess next season I can rotate front to back.

Installing Monday, so I'll report back. My driveway is a couple hundred feet uphill and currently under 8" of snow . . .

From what I've been reading, and according to Tire Rack, you can only run 19" wheels. I have the Michelin PA4's on my 235 and I really don't think they are that good in the snow. I use to run the Blizzaks on my 335 and 330 and they were excellent and much better. The PA's are better in the cold and give you better performance, but the trade off is they are worse in snow and ice. I was basically told this by the Tire Rack agent when I ordered them.

I'm waiting on my delivery till April since I didn't immediate want an additional tire expense (the 235 set I have won't fit) until next year.

Lol, been there. Even with the right tires RWD just doesn't cut it for me in the snow. Plus all the salt on the road and the increased risk of an accident. I just said fuck it and saved up for a dedicated winter car so I could leave the M2 in the garage during bad weather. Let's just say I was a very happy man on Thursday.

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

Just installed Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 on the 788M rims in 245 in front and 285 rear.

it was a perfect fit when it comes to handling it worked really well on the 1M and M2 facelift.
