You do not need to cut either the AA midpipe or Akra axleback to mate them together. They will not mate from the factory, but there is space between these two exhaust components where you'll need to have a shop fabricate couplers.

I'm referring to the AA single midpipe, but it sounds like the mounting/connection geometry is the same with the Equal-length version. I have a couple of photos in the build thread of my signature.

I'm hearing that running a non-res EL exhaust with DPs will sound terrible and is not recommended.

Anyone able to get any vids? Hoff?

I am running stock downpipes and we haven’t tested it
Yet, but I told Andrew at Active Autowerke that they can borrow my car again and install downpipes and see how it sounds. Will keep you posted.

Sorry mate no vids but some experience to share;

It is al personal, but my project with an EL (Milltek style with the big U) had the drivers settings to go resonated or non-resonated via the standard valves/ push of the AK motion button.

Valves open = non resonated = shit, really, at 4000ish rpm it sounds like a sliding trumpet which at 1 stage also has this unbelievably loud trumpetting sound. Pretty sure there are peepz who like it, but I don't
Valves closed = resonated = much less shit but not perfect yet.

Additional sound engineering is ongoing, we added some small resonators all the way back in the exhaust (to be as efficient as possible), it is almost unbelievable what a difference that makes, but still not perfect. Somehoz the engine creates pules that are very loud and resonating at 4000rpm, but even cold start at 2000rpm you feel the pressure pounding your chests standing behind the exhausts

We like it perfect so we keep tweaking, will update soon.

Cheers

Amazing how ridiculous it sounds after cold start at 4k rpm, and all I have is the AA midpipe. It sounds more like my spec Miata than an I-6 BMW engine.

Does anyone have an input as to what would sound "deeper" with the stock exhaust on a 21 M2 Comp, the AA EL non-res, the AA EL res, or the original AA mid pipe? I'm really looking for better noise out of the car, so I'm trying to decide which is the best way to go, and I have no interest in making the M2 sound like a tuned Civic from Fast & Furious.

I'm coming from a 981 Cayman with the sports exhaust, which honestly, was GLORIOUS. Intoxicating, zero drone, audible at all driving speeds, it's quite possibly one of the best engine sounds ever.

Moving to the M2 comp, I love everything about the car except for the sound. First mod was the ASD off with the harness, which definitely helped.

Anyone have any recommendations? I hear the mid pipe is a good start, but it's tough to get a comparison.

Active Autowerke installed their non resonated EL midpipe on my car today. In return they wanted me to provide content to post online so check out the video below. You can also follow me on IG @50shadesofhockenheim for more

I am super curious to hear how the resonated sounds. I feel like that plus a remus race could be the money maker.

I'd only do resonated if also doing catless downpipes

I had an OE exhaust mod done to my E92M3 system where they just gutted the OE muffler. It sounded amazing and was super cheap. Wonder if anyone has tried that on the M2C

I recognise this so much!

I once stood behind the car, and straight piped (valves open) at cold start you really experienced the pressure pulses at your chest while having 2 ears plugged with your index finger.

Once the wastegates close, there is the deep and dark rumble and suddely you recognise the 6 in line sound.

Problem is my dealer refuses to remove the cold start (they are able to do so with their specialist software apparently)

I coded it off with BM3, but interestingly the car did not run very well for the first 5 minutes when cold. This was mainly at idle where it stumbled and hunted around for a stable rpm.

So with my car being >March 2019 I would need to bench unlock it and then BM3 it. With the latest auto detect for tampering at the dealer, and still having 1 year factory warranty, this is still a no go for me. After the warranty period is over, I'll be happy to beat the shit out of it and delete the cold start on the way

My Remus race is pretty loud on stock midpipe with secondary cats and resonator and I don't want to double the sound again.
Would the resonated EL pipe be quieter than the non resonated EL?

It's listed as "Sold Out" on the website. I'm not sure if they made the listing in preparation for the first batch, or if the first batch already sold out.

We will be accepting pre orders for the 1st batch in the 2nd week of November, and ETA for shipping is end of December, may be sooner. We already have tooling set up for production so this will be happening. Thanks for being patient.

I can't decide between res/non-res version. Are there any side by side videos yet? Anyone with the non-res version comment on in cab resonance annoyance?

From your website:

"WE ARE RECOMMENDING TO OWNERS OF CARS WITH STOCK CATTED DOWNPIPES TO USE THE NON-RESONATED VERSION ALTHOUGH MANY ARE ORDERING THE RESONATED ONES."

Is this for reasons related to pressure drop and/or exhaust gas velocity, or only for quality of sound?
