18" Setup MDM compatible
Hello everyone,
I've been searching for common track setups and some people write that for example a setup like 275/35/18 and 295/30/18 will freak out the MDM because of tire differences. Our shop car sometimes gets driven by customers and would like to provide maximum grip setup but still be able to keep at least MDM on if not full TC but running stock tire sizes isn't really an option. We intend to run AR-1 next season in 18" (depending on the brake setup, will be a separate thread for that one). Any user experiences welcome! |

My experience with 9.5x18 wheels with 265-35-18s is that with Euro MDM they work fairly well with a square set up. Full TC can be problematic, I usually struggle to get power down out of slow corners. With US/North American spec MDM the car was pretty useless out of slow corners. My experience was with 200TW tires, RE71R and RS4s, I imagine AR-1 would be the similar.

I run ar1's square 265/35 r18 - mdm works fine, will let you hold a drift in the wet for as long as you like as long as the angle doesnt get too silly.
Ive done quite a lot of track days with this setup and allows a little bit of slip on corner exit/entry if thats what you want without sapping power. Im struggling more with the abs |
