I'd say that the highest position is roughly where the stock seats are (maybe a little lower, but not significant). Each position down is half an inch to an inch, so you can probably lower 1-2". I haven't since the switches need to be moved to a separate bracket that I didn't get. This wouldn't be an issue with manual sliders (which honestly I'm kicking myself for not getting).

Very nice install, looks great! What about the oem sliders & BK Mount has you wishing you had gone with manual sliders?

I would have preferred the OEM manual sliders because:
- they're faster than the motors (even though the rear is basically impossible to get into)
- they're lighter than the motors
- you can mount the seats at the lowest position on the BK mounts without having to use their special adapter to avoid hitting the switch (though on second look, the F87 mounts don't seem to have one of these and they don't have anywhere to mount one--maybe it doesn't need it? I'll check in the morning.)

I definitely prefer doing the OEM electric sliders over aftermarket manual sliders though.

You'll need to contact someone like Alex @ Alpine to code everything out. He did my M4 and I had no issues afterwards.

Know what you mean - they are not exactly the quickest moving. OEM electric vs aftermarket manual is what I was curious about. Had a similar set up with the BK mounts on my E92 M3 before it went full race car and really liked it - thinking about doing the same on the M2.

For people looking for manual sliders— look for i3 part outs. 100% of them use manual sliders, and they’re the same sliders BMW used from e9x on.

I went up to a bunch of salvage lots in Sacramento, CA and was quoted ~250/seat for manual seats + sliders (they wouldn't split the sliders from the seats). Not unreasonable (especially since I could probably harvest the connectors, heaters, occupancy sensor, etc.), but more than I wanted to pay. Was looking to trade seats with someone, but unsure how easily the electric sliders would code in (I'm sure there are folks who have done it).

I'm working through the DIY approach. The steps appear to be:
- Get Ethernet to OBD2 cable (e.g. https://amzn.to/35cXmMU) and USB to ethernet adapter if your laptop doesn't have an ethernet port
- Go through the E-sys and Launcher installation: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh.../983244?page=1
- E-sys 3.30.1 (looks like 3.27.1 also works?) and E-sys Launcher 2.8.2, which should be free until ~March/April 2020 (http://tokenmaster.blogspot.com/2019...pro-282.html); otherwise, you'll have to deal with TokenMaster and E-sys Launcher Pro 3.x
- Code out L/R Seat Airbags, R Seat Occupancy Sensor, L/R Seat Heaters (NICHT_AKTIV). There was a thread that had the names for the airbags, but I'll have to find all of them again
- This should all be VO coding, no flashing required so you only need the PSdZData Lite

Junk yards near me, you go into the yard yourself and remove parts. Sliders are $15/seat.

Interesting thought anthracite was suppose to be the match to the inside curious which two are the best options.

I think the left most sample in both pictures is the closest match, but I probably am not the best judge for this.

Yep, I used European sourced anthracite (the stuff I got from Relicate in the US was different). Unsure what manufacturing variation they have, but it was noticable when I had the two swatches next to each other.

Just managed to get E-Sys (3.27) and E-Sys Launcher (2.8r155) activated. Will plug into the car later today or tomorrow and see if things connect properly, then will proceed with coding.

It's not super well documented, and the entire process feels pretty sketchy, which is why I've avoided it thus far. Hopefully it's smooth sailing and I can document the process a little better.

The car is perfectly happy to keep driving (at least, AFAICT), it just pops up warnings about the driver and passenger restraint systems that you have to skip in order to get to iDrive. I mostly keep my iDrive off anyways, so it doesn't bother me...

Ok, the part everyone has been patiently waiting for. To be honest, coding is super daunting up front, as most of the instructions are terrible and the all of the download links seem sketchy, plus the persistent fear of bricking your car.

As always, everything here is at your own risk, so proceed with caution.

I went from knowing next to nothing this morning to coding away all my errors, in three easy steps:
  1. Download E-Sys, E-Sys Launcher, and activate E-Sys Launcher
  2. FDL code several seat settings from aktiv to nicht_aktiv (aka "turn them off")
  3. Reset all fault codes using an OBD reader (I used BimmerLink, but I'm sure that any of them work)

Now, more detail on the above.

For 1:
  • get an Enet cable (e.g. this: https://amzn.to/3d73jiL)
  • download E-Sys 3.27 and E-Sys Launcher Pro 2.8r155 (I used http://bmwtune.com/coding), as well as the latest PSdZData file. This post (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...3#post10193333) has great instructions, and links to this PDF: https://mega.nz/file/H9AlBZKQ#-gkBqT...vv7kh1WesW1l5g which will guide you all the instructions you need
  • you need a token (the .est file) and the pin (1234), then when you click "Launch" the first time, it'll give you an "activation code", which you can email that guy to exchange for the code needed to launch the application. He responded in about an hour or two for me.
  • if you want to download more sketchy software or don't want to email someone, you can download Tokenbuster (which is presumably how he's generating tokens) here: https://mega.nz/folder/09EjUQpY#viP2L7ifEA8NKaX2OKxL0Q. Yes, Windows thinks its a virus, so you'll have to disable antivirus software. Do everything here at your own risk. Basically, generate a new token and PIN, put it in E-Sys Launcher to get a new Activation Code, then get the code out of TokenBuster. This is the method I went and it worked fine.
  • launch E-Sys through E-Sys Launcher--it should work!

For 2:
  • learn how to use E-Sys for FDL coding. I watched this video. He's a bit slow, but it teaches you what to do in 15 minutes.
  • connect the cable, turn the car on, connect to your car, etc. and head to ACSM, #3000
  • set the following codes from aktiv to nicht_aktiv:

CIS_Beifaher (Occupancy sensor)
Sitzairbag_Thorax_Fahrer (Driver seat airbag)
Sitzairbag_Thorax_Beifahrer (Passenger seat airbag)
Sitzpositionsensor_Fahrer (Driver seat position sensor)
Sitzpositionsensor_Beifahrer (Passenger seat position sensor)
Sitzpositionsensorserkennung_Sitzmemory_Fahrer (Driver seat position sensor memory)
Sitzpositionsensorserkennung_Sitzmemory_Beifahrer (Passenger seat position sensor memory)

Save, FDL code, and wait for success

For 3:
  • connect your favorite OBD fault code app (again, I used BimmerLink)
  • clear all codes (there will likely be a few)

Restart the car and you should have no errors coming from the Driver/Passenger safety systems!

At the same time I did M4GTS + Euro MDM and M2CS steering. I didn't push the car on the drive home (it was highway driving), so honestly I didn't feel anything, but we'll see how it performs at the next auto-x.

Awesome, thanks for the write up! For the MDM and steering what did those codes look like in e-sys? Thanks.

Yes, it was F020 psdzdata. Don't use the _draft one, and I used the 05 instead of the 01, unsure what the difference was (I think it's the month, so this was the latest one)?
