Texas requires front plates but I only run one on 1 of my cars. The rest do not have them and I just risk the ticket. None for the last 10 years or so, knock on wood, but I will look into some of these products as an alternative to running naked.

I refuse to attach a front plate. I've only received one $50 ticket in seven years and I live in Northern VA, where the parking patrols are on their game. When I park in the city, I typically park in a garage. Worth the occasional $50 imo.

I found that as long as I don't have a rear plate they don't look for a front one.

Got the ticket from Halton and pulled over by Metro after getting the ticket a few days later. Guy insisted on giving me a warning since it was a different region but the ticket is what triggered me to do something.

I have used Skene Design bracket on last few cars. Like you I can’t stand off centered license plate. Skene bracket does require two holes, but they are located where you can’t see them. You have to be laying on the ground. Carbonio no drill are nice but tend to cover some of the lower grill opening.

Here's my bracket/plate mount:

Totally invisible

Car just looks better without a plate. I'll take the occasional ticket, idc.

Totally agree - front plate looks even worse on my old Miata's rounded snout. Ran without a front plate on it for several years, only got one ticket but endured consistent harassment before that from lame MD cops - got pulled over for a couple warnings, lost a cop or two in traffic, managed to give another one the slip by sneaking into my garage (after flooring it once I was out of sight around a corner). Got tired of them bothering me.

I live in VA and have the carbonio mount with the plate on it in the trunk, just in case. Occasionally a base gate guard says something, others get their needed exercise to see if I have a valid plate and one say "I really love the color of your car."

Two sided tape works great for me while in Germany. I had it on my M240i and it was easy to remove with zero damage when I sold the car. When I take her back to the states I will register my car in a state that does not require a front plate. No front plate is the cleanest for sure.

This is what I will do as well (double sided tape). In the US (in the states that require one) as compared to other countries having a front plate and enforcement is very lax. I guarantee you if we in Australia drove around without a front plate it would take about 1 day before we got a ticket.

No front plate = 12 penalty units.

1 penalty unit in 2018 = $130.55, 12 = $1566.60

Penalty units are essentially amounts that are assigned to every legal infraction, but the advantage is that they are cost adjusted yearly, so they always go up.

The M2 does look way better without a plate. The M2C has a big space that looks a bit weird without a plate. I wonder if that was intended?

The M2 has the exact same "big space". If anything it's larger...

And yes of course it's intentional, since in most states/countries there has to be a place to mount a front plate by law.

The United States is one of the few places I know of where you don't always need one. 19 out of the 50 states don't require one.

The Carbonio mount looks OK, I was able to use the black metal plate frame from my last car with it, and it seems sturdy enough. I'm going to live with it for now. A local cop followed me into the parking lot of the grocery store on Saturday, to either harass me about the plate (his stated purpose), or to get a better look at the car (he complimented the car and was paying more attention to it than to me). Note: little blue car very dirty...it's been drippy here.

It’s angled on M2. M2C has a flat space that fits my local slimline plate perfectly so I admit bias. Irregardless I acknowledge this isn’t necessarily a good thing as the point is to make it easier for the government to set up camera at the bottom of hills on straight roads where no accidents ever happen so they can take photos of you to make money. Those 19 states have the best system.

The top-middle honeycomb bit is too small to get the thingy through (thingy...technical term) or it would be a bit higher up. I may try to get it on there at some point.

I got the same hook kit as yours, tilted it to the furthest left position possible, still tripping off the parking sensors...

I got the Platypus tow hook mount. Super high quality, love it, and it doesn't trip any of the parking sensors. But requires one tiny extra step to work for M2C.

https://www.amazon.com/CravenSpeed-P...+f87&psc=1

1. Stud length is designed for OG M2, so if you try to install, your license plate will rub up against the M2C's bumper

2. So, once it arrived, I called Craven Speed and they immediately sent out a new stud about 1/2 inch longer in length, which worked perfectly
