PSS 245/35ZR19 (93Y) XL Star BMW - 9.8" Section Width, 8.8" Tread Width PS4S 245/35ZR19 (93Y) XL - 9.8" Section Width, 8.6" Tread Width PSS 265/35ZR19 (98Y) XL Star BMW - 10.7" Section Width 9.4" Tread Width PS4S 245/35ZR19 (98Y) XL - 10.7" Section Width 9.6" Tread Width I would note that the section width of the tire doesn't necessarily have much to do with grip on acceleration and braking. |

When mounted, the PS4S for some reason looks quite beefier. On the 763M and 437M wheels I prefer the look of the PSS tires. Same for handling. It's the sure footed fronts that make the difference, and it's the right balance front vs rear. You can tell the M2/M2C suspension was tuned with that tire in mind. The PS4S upsets that balance (handling), and you get some floaty feeling (possibly because of the softer sidewall and the narrower tread of the fronts, not sure about the tread depth), although the PS4S does provide better traction and braking. With the PS4S tires I tried 3 mm spacers for the fronts and slightly less toe-in in the rear to get the balance about right, and it feels quite solid then, although it still doesn't get you the crispier responses of the PSS* tire. |
