Searching for best exhaust-drop names

Hi guys

I've been thinking of switching out my exhaust, preferably to axles or catbacks. Just need something new and been looking around for a while now. I've narrowed it down and debating between a few, Vibrant Performance, Valve Intelligent Exhaust, Stone Exhaust, Eisenmann. After some amount of research, these stick out to me, although I am leaning towards Vibrant Performance, their tips are sickk.

If I had to weigh both sound and performance, I would give more weight to performance, although I'd expect the sound to do it justice. Hope to get any feedback, suggestions.... I f you have other options, drop them below!!! I am open to hearing them!!

Cheers

A midpipe actually (allegedly) improves performance, but the muffler is mostly sound.

I made a thread a little bit ago on gains for upgrading the exhaust system:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1819047

My vote would be for whatever is the cheapest.

1. Figure out if a sniff test is required to pass emissions in your area, that'll dictate your path.

2. Consider if additional smell will bother you, as the sport cat does have additional smell, and the catless is massively more. This will further dictate your path.

3. Be detailed about the kind of sound you want. Are you wanting deep and warm (Remus), or bright and raspy (FI)?

4. If you're smart you'll do the downpipe first, it's less expensive, and changes the sound so dramatically that many don't even need an aftermarket exhaust afterwards. And it's the only real way to get appreciable performance from your exhaust.

5. If you're even smarter you'll do your tune after your DP but before your exhaust because the tune can change the sound of the car significantly. Remember, if you can get the sound you're after without spending an additional $2.5-$4K you're that much ahead of the game.

6. Don't buy the exhaust based on the tips, any reputable exhaust shop can mix and match those. I'm running the 4" AWE Switchpath tips on mine + Fabspeed DP + Dinan resonator delete and everyone thinks it's an aftermarket exhaust.

7. You are likely not going to get any appreciable performance gains from exhaust mods beyond the downpipe, so don't let that be your decision maker.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, you made some good points.

I am going for more of a warm, not pitchy, raspy tone similar to a Fabspeed dp but a little deeper.

The downpipe is indeed a good option. I will consider it.

Trust me on this one.

1. Fabspeed catted dp (adds throat, and volume)
2. Tune (adds sound artifacts and volume)
3. Remus (you become God)

+1 for Remus. I've had their exhaust on my car for 3 years now and have been very happy with it. I'm still running the stock downpipe, but will probably swap it out at some point to get more volume.

Vote goes to Dinan and M Performance for exhausts, Stone and AA for catted dp. If you go with downpipe, get a resonator delete and do a tune. Could save you from getting an exhaust.

Have you experienced any drone with it for the past years?

There is no best as exhausts are subjective. The active autowerke signature , Dinan, and the REMUS are the most popular systems with our customers.

The only time I notice something that could be considered drone is while cruising at highway speeds in 6th with the valves open. I hardly ever notice it unless I'm on a longer road trip though, which I rarely do.

For full turboback, Valvetronic is my favorite. I have Dinan paired to a downpipe right now, I'm looking to make the switch here soon. Dinan's valve barely makes a difference and there's too much NVH at low speeds. Great at WOT though.

Don't count out the M Performance Exhaust, I know it was mentioned above but paired with the Fabspeed DP its quite throaty with quite the different levels of volume depending on your settings or if the valves are open/closed. I also like it as its one of the least expensive fully straight piped valved systems. But your call in the end, I would consider the M performance, I enjoy it on mine.
