Car in an m2 competition

I would like to run Ferodo ds1.11 for track days and switch back to oem pads in the street

Any experience doing this, do these 2 brake compound mix well without any judder or other problems

Please let me know in you do that and let me know if it's fine

Ferodo advertises that you can swap between ds2500 and 1.11 without issues and don’t need to re-bed the track pads.

I haven’t tried Ferodo, but I mix use PFC08 and BMW factory pads with no issues.

Before switching to DS2500s on the street, I ran the DS1.11s and OEM pads back to back. Never had any issues with brake judders.

Since my car is like new, oem brakes pads are really like new so dont feel like buying ds2500 for the street as long as my street pads are good

Thanks

I didn't even swapped back to stock and used the 1.11 on the street without any issues. It wasn't too squeaky either.

tropicatango - like detroitm2 said you can definitely swap them back & forth. Might find that re-bedding after each swap will be necessary if any issues/judders do pop up. The swap between 2500 & 1.11 would not require re-bedding if you want to make the switch after you use the oem up.

I get the opposite on both cars that I run 1.11s at the track. Absolutely cringe worthy when I pull up to a stop light. Like so bad that dogs cry out in pain, windshields get cracked, everyone around grabbing their ears and then flipping me the bird bad.

LOL. Yeah, same. I drive my car to Grattan (about 2 hours away), and typically throw my track pads on before I leave so I have one less thing to mess with when I get there. Sounds like a damn bus once they've warmed up.

How would you rate the DS2500 against the stock pads?

I ask because I have an F30 335i with no significant powertrain modifications that I run at the track. When I used stock M3/M4 pads, they seemed fine although I currently use Ferodo DS1.11.

If I could get away with DS2500 pads, I'd opt for those and leave those in for the entire track season or whenever I need to swap.

Also, FCP Euro sells DS2500 pads so their warranty policy would be awesome if the pads were sufficient for a largely stock powertrain 335i that has the M Sport calipers.

The DS2500s are great for street pads. If you're more than an intermediate driver on track, I wouldn't recommend them. The DS1.11s are superior in every way.

Main benefit is being able to swap between the 2500s and 1.11s without rebedding.

I go between Pagid RSL29 & oem pads without issue but find the oem pads work better if I've done a couple days of street driving with the Pagids after the track. Cold stops with the hard pad cleans up the rotors nicely.

Same. My 1.11s are embarrassingly loud on the street.

I ran pfc06 back in the days on my e46 m3.... they were crazy loud

The ds1.11 are silent when car and caliper are clean

After a good week they start to make noise because of brake dust i guess but i have absolutely no problem running them in the street.

They bite so much harder than oem pads... i just can't go back lol

Took a short drive on the 1.11s from the shop to grab some food before switching back to the 2500s... absolutely awful as usual. tropicatango I think you must have the magic set - been through a lot of 1.11s and every single set has squealed.

I need to pick up a set of 2500 for when I'm not on the track. I typical don't drive the m2 unless it's going to the track though. Figured I can apply that dough to the Essex brake kit.
