I started shopping for track wheels and wondering if I am missing any options. Requirements are:
18" wheels New (brand new) Forged <$3k Already familiar with Apex and Titan7. Any others out there? |

Um, do you not have the 2NH brake package? If you do, you can forget 18's.

Titan7 or Bimmerworld forge would be your best bet. If you can wait until at Tgiving, should be a sale available.

Daytona_550 - are there certain widths/offsets that you are looking for?

9.5 et28 square or staggered F: 9.5 et22 for no spacers (or less desirable et28 w/ 5mm spacers) and R: 10.5 et40 rear. I'm leaning toward staggered to keep OEM balance (while sacrificing tire rotation) |

Apex's 10" et33 would be a nice square setup if you are not fixed on 9.5" on the front. 12mm spacer gets it to a good place in the front. I just fit a 10" front 11" rear Signature Wheel setup that I am very happy with. Much prefer these widths on something like a 275/295 Hoosier or 275/305 Pirelli DHB stagger. Bit more than 3k but nice being able to spec the exact wheel you want and also get to the wider sizes that better utilize those size tires.

My vote would be BimmerWorld forged. I noticed a big weight difference compared to something like EC-7.

ENKEI PF01 are bullet proof strong as buggery and light as buggery and cheap and is the go to wheel for tracks....
I use Volk Racing TE37 ..to clear my AP Racing Calipers... 18 inch.. the overall weight saving from the Original Wheels + AP Racing Calipers and Rotors are 13+ Kg per corner at the fronts!!! |

Looking into BC Forged (the KL11 and EH181 look darn good!) and realized that their offices are located 20 mins from me. That's got to make them worthy of a visit, right?

Quick unrelated question: is it the picture, or do the j-hook grooves on your rotors run right to the edge of the rotor? |

As for the AP J Hook Rotors i think its just the picture. they almost go right to the edge but they dont. In case you were wondering I am using PAGID RS29... really really really good race pad compound.. squeaky for daily driving but stops you on a dime time after time after time. I found with the combination of lighter wheels, lighter brakes, better pads stopping distances at high speed is significantly better... less rotational mass to stop and bigger beefier calipers and pads to grab the rotors |

if you research deeper into Enkei wheels you will find them just like Volk Racing are JWL and VIA Certified. Certified by an external company to strict testing standards before they can be given the JWL and VIA standards for construction strength etc etc etc If you look at something like Titan7s they falsely advertise their wheels as JWL VIA compliant but has never been Tested in japan and certified... Bimmerworld wheels also claim JWL & VIA certification but has never ever been tested by the relevant associations. https://www.apexraceparts.com/blog/a...ls-really-via/ The point is dont assume because the wheel is forged it must be better than everything else. it comes down to the materials used, the forging\forming process and quality of materials and manufacturing process. Volk Racing wheels are also formed using the spinning process granted its done via forging also... so anyway thats food for thought.. not forcing you to go down the path of enkei and your potentially missing out on fantastic bang for buck wheels that fall well under your 3k budget is super light and ridiculously strong and suits your purpose just helping you understand the full picture. anyway good luck mate |
