With the 400Z coming soon and coming around the $40K mark, I'm kind of interested in getting it. Probably wouldn't get rid of the M2, but interested in it as a second car instead of trading in the M2 for a higher end car. I'd probably wait for the Nismo version though.

Anyone else interested in the 400Z? Also, has anyone on here come from either a 350Z/370Z or a Q50/Q60 Red Sport with the same engine? Want to hear some input on whether the 400Z is worth the hype.

I am interested but no chance a model with any options rings in under 50k. Hard to know if the new motor is worth the hype with a manual transmission. Definitely going to be better than a VQ35 or 37

I have little hope for this car since it's based off such an aging chassis. It's a wonder it can pass modern crash testing. I know they have been able to make some changes, but I have no faith in Nissan.

Nissan lost its sense of imagination a while ago and has focused its sales on folks with 600 credit scores. Frontier chassis, over 10 years old. GTR, also over a decade old. New fairlady being built on the old chassis is all the evidence I need that they're losing their way. Soon to be like Mitsubishi.

I'm a 350Z OG. Unfortunately, I have zero interest in the new Z. It just doesn't differ enough from the Z34, which is just an evolution from the Z33. Hell, the chassis code will still be Z34 apparently.

Owned a new 2013 Sport Z, 6mt for 5 years before upgrading it to the M2. I had both cars for 3 months, before finally selling the Z.

In a nutshell, the Z won out for steering feel (hydraulic), shifter, shorter clutch pedal travel, exhaust note and seating position. However the M2 is faster in every aspect and more balanced. Despite the longer clutch pedal travel and rubbery shifter, the M2 is the easiest 6mt, I’ve ever driven. Plus add 4 seats and a trunk, it’s very practical. Regarding exhaust note, the M2 is excellent, but for me, the Z just edged it out (mods done on both cars).

With Carlos Ghosn (AKA le cost cutter) gone, Nissan is putting more yen & effort in improving their vehicles. So I’m excited to see that Nissan is coming out with a new Z, and hope that it’s a great car. I don’t think I’d ever go back to a two seater, but never say never.

I'm interested to see how the 400z will feel to drive. I quite liked the manual transmission in the 370z and it was a pretty "raw" feeling car to drive, and it definitely improved upon the 350z. The power delivery will probably feel completely different in the 400z. Just out of curiosity, I will probably test drive one once they make their way to dealerships, but I have similar concerns that others have shared in this thread so far. I really preferred the seating position in the 370z over my M2 though!

I had a 350Z as my only car and daily for about 12 years. I'm going to be honest, with 400 hp that car would've been awesome. It didn't excel in any particular area, but as an all around front engine, rear-wheel drive performance car, it was pretty good. The thing about the Z chassis is that it's old, but the fundamentals are all there. Double wishbones up front, multilink in back, reasonably stiff, decent weight distribution and pretty low center of gravity.

The biggest negatives were the thrashy engine, the poor visibility and the slightly soft stock suspension. Oh and a tire stagger that produces understeer, but that's an easy fix.

The 350/370 always had that really awkward sedan like vertical slab sided glasshouse and other awkward styling elements. Having been a big fan of the old 240/260 I really like how the new one captures that old essence but in a modern way. I think this will be a nice one. Don't care if it has an old chassis. I think we are in a golden period now. The pre-electrification era. Pick your future classic.

I bet the new Z will be a great little car... If you are looking for a 2 seater, this one will have to be in the conversation.

Nissan is back exactly where they were 20 years ago when Carlos saved their bacon

Nissan is now a sinking ship and Infiniti is a dead fish still in water

It's the screwing they get, for the screwing they got
