This.

2 track days a month is a lot. Get the car with the cooling and brakes.

I would suggest M2C and you can easily make it sound 100x better by getting the active autowerke equal length mid pipe. Sounds so much better.

Having owned both I would get the N55 version simply because of value. It's 90% the M2C and there are some things I like better about the N55.
- way way way better sound, MPE and FI catted DP on mine and it was fantastic
- N55 potentially simpler and easier to work on long term
- seats are more comfortable in the LCI, despite not looking as cool
- low end grunt seemed better in the N55
- subjective; i like the styling of the OG M2 better

It depends on your priorities. If you want the best bang-for-the-buck then the OG is without question the way to go. If you're a track rat then the Comp with the 2NH brake package is without question the way to go.

I bought an OG for these reasons.

1. price
2. sound
3. tuning options
4. reliability
5. low maintenance
6. more classic bmw front end
7. lighter

But I never plan to track my car.

I like the Comp front end, the seats, the seatbelts, and the extra power (not that I'd use it), but they weren't enough to sell me on a car that was much more expensive, heavier, had potential reliability issues, had potential tuning issues, had definitely more maintenance as the miles racked up, ugly wheels, and an exhaust that I would absolutely have to change.

Having said that, I wouldn't kick a Comp out of bed if it were given to me, I'd just sell it for an OG and spend the difference on mods.

I had an option to buy either of these last year. Went with a 2018 LCI

-Much better sound
-Looks better imo
-Cheaper
-OG M2 makes PLENTY of power, i personally don't need anymore

I got lucky and found a 2018 LCI with 4000 miles and every option except sunroof(which I don't want) and I am very happy with it

Maybe I'm an outlier, but I bought an LCI (mainly because it still had warranty) and I dislike the gauges vs the more simple traditional ones in the pre-LCI. I also think my car sounds like a vacuum cleaner in reverse (with a inlines six buried somewhere in there) that makes fart noises when you lift. I prefer the Comp sound by a mile. But exhausts can fix that.

If you're doing track work, I'd go for the Comp. The top end of the n55 is nothing special and is honestly just a little flat. S55 solves that problem and gives you a reason to not short shift (do your own research on reliability tho). The only reason I didn't get the M2C is my use case being primarily autocross. LCI being 150-200lb lighter than the comp really matters for that, and the low/mid range is basically just as good. Not enough time for the top end to make much of an advantage for the S55 there. Also I saved like $10k that I am now rapidly blowing on tires etc

If you're just using it as a fun street car, then go with whichever one you find a better example of. Or whichever you think will depreciate less.

The OG M2 seats never fail to surprise me regarding how comfortable they are. Even for long rides.

If price is not a factor, competition ALL DAY & NIGHT.

If sound is absolutely everything and you don't mind the gas smell, get the LCI & straight pipe it. Imo, it's not the way to go. Also the S55 sounds good with the new resonated AA mid pipe.

Money no object I chose an OG M2
My former car was a 991.2 GT3
The OG has more power down below and is therefore more fitted as a daily, for me anyway
I will change the intercooler, fuel pump and do a tune
That will get me 450 hp and 700 nm what is more than I will ever need

For looks I got the cs style mirrors and other carbon bits

I will never track the car

With PS4S instead of SS the ride is fine as a daily
