Collision Repair Recommendations

Posting here as I see this forum more active than the local 3 series one. Last week I got rear ended on my M340i while I was waiting on merging into a right turn. Still the follow up with the other person's insurance is going on, I wanted to understand what would be the best way to get the repair done. I have Portimao Blue M340i and the damages are to the rear bumper lower panel. It is dent with some cracks on the paint clearly visible. Should i just get it repaired through Certified BMW Collision repair or people have any other suggestions for repair centers\body shops? Since the car is in lease I want to make sure I don't run into issues while returing the car. This is my first time getting collision repair being done and hence wanted to understand whether the bumper needs to be replaced or can be repaired and repainted. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Take it to RNR Automotive Refinishing.

http://www.rnrauto.com/

Or Haury’s.

I went here to fix a relatively minor but very noticeable damage to the side of my rear bumper.

Pacific Auto Body

Seemed like good people and the quote they gave me matched what people on the forum told me to expect.

Another vote for Pacific Auto Body. They repaired my 128i after someone who didn't know how to use his mirrors backed into it. They did a fantastic job. They are also an authorized BMW repair shop which is important.

My number one choice is Haury’s. Jeff Butler, the owner, is the BMWCCA Tech Event Coordinator. They are also an approved BMW body repair facility.

Don’t forget that you should also file a diminish value claim. Jeff Butler can help you with the details.

In case you don’t know, a diminish value claim is for the difference in resale value of your BMW due to the accident. A car with a CARFAX accident report is worth less than a car with a clean history.

The fun thing about diminished value is there is no requirement to sell the car after the repair. And the value of the diminished value claim is right after the repair is done.

I am going to drop my car at RNR in Bellevue. Haury's was a bit busy to get back on my estimate but finally they were slightly on the higher side. The person who rear ended is not responding to their Insurance so I am going ahead by placing a claim on my insurance and paying the deductible and hoping I will be reimbursed eventually. It sucks that the other party after sharing all the details is not responding to their insurance and basically at this point i would consider is non-cooperating .

Just an update. thanks to all the recommendations. finally got it fixed with RNR Bellevue. They did a good job and it took them 1.5 weeks to complete. Finally the cost ended up around 4k but except my deductible, the rest was covered and paid by Insurance.

Reached out to insurance for claiming diminished value and they said my insurance doesn't offer it. I have my insurance with PEMCO. Also the person who rear ended me is not responding to their insurance and hence they say they can't do anything. Would appreciate if people would have any advice here. I do have ARAG legal benefit from employer. do I have any options and is it worth it?

I would consider taking the other party to court. Diminished value usually is 1/2 the value of the repairs on a newer vehicle. Also have the attorney add your deductible to the claim. PEMCO is right that diminished value can only be claim from the party at fault.
