Tire pressure maintence
How often does the M2 need tire pressure checked? In the manual it shows at least twice a month or before a long trip. However I have never checked my tire pressures and the last time was during my 1200 mile run in service. On the BMW connected app it shows tire pressure "OK" all the time so I never worried about it. The front is suppose to be 93 while rears are 98 when tires are COLD. However the computer can't read when cold and only after a brief drive it reads them higher as they should due to tires being warmed up thus creating a higher pressure.

As for timing, if you're driving to and from work and taking short trips, every couple of weeks is great unless you feel something is wrong or it looks wrong. If you're taking a long trip especially in very hot weather, check before you go. (The Ford Explorer problem/tragedy.) Last edited by STK; 07-23-2017 at 04:47 PM.. |

Ok so based on the manual and driver door it shows 35psi for both front and rear. However today the Tire Pressure Monitor on the iDrive shows 32-35. That seems acceptable even though not optimal. The TPM will only warn you if it loses a significant amount of pressure. So ideally it's best to check at least once a month especially in the winter time. Also best to check when tires are cold as it gives the most accurate reading because warm tires will inflate the pressure.

Not all M2 has the tire pressure and temp showing in iDrive, so we need a pump to check out for every tire.

Anyone else notice the tyre pressure monitor on the idrive seems to give incorrect readings?
I would set the tyre pressures at the local service station but the readout always read 1-2 psi lower on the idrive after resetting. I recently purchased a pressure gauge to double check and yep, idrive reads lower. |

Digital tire pressure gauges suck, the battery is always dead when you need it. Get a decent mechanical gauge (e.g. Longacre).
