I could see this being true for press cars, which would probably be the initial run. That would be an interesting scenerio. I'm not sure I'd still be in for one of it wasn't the color I wanted. On the other hand I've been interested in quite a few combos along the way.

This is very bad news. This basically means there won't be many allocations for customer driven orders. The color and transmission are very important must have options. Suddenly my odds for an allocation have decreased once again.

There is no way. I would agree that initial press cars are going to be BMWNA configured, but there is no way that they are going to preconfigure all US customer allocations.

I'd be PISSED... I emailed me SA to head this one off right away on the off chance it holds true. After waiting a year they are either getting me the right thing or discounting the car.

Cup 2 tires are a Priority 1 option, dealers won't be able to spec them on a non-sold order. Colors, transmission and the ccbs are regular options though.

No, the model code is still not available in the NA dealer online system; checked again this morning.

Nobody has been told for sure when, what, how or why. I check BMW internal system 3-4 times daily as I have a customer waiting for one. When they did M3cs, there was a bulletin and we had to go request a specific color/option for our customers. But I believe it was different for M4cs. We will all find out shortly Im sure.

Been back and forth with my SA a bunch today. Was trying to get more info about ccb and how it impacts handling characteristics as I'm less concerned about the braking performance. He mentioned that they are starting to hear more internal information about the CS. People are now getting trained and dealership's will only receive 1 car. This continues to jive with the 350 to 400 unit rumors. I'm starting to think it will be closer to 350 than 400, but time will tell

WOW.
Had not thought of the forced dealer configurations. Been waiting nearly two years on 2 lists. For a $100,000 car out the door....and you don't get any selection?!?!?!? Austin BMW said that they got 6 F80 M3 CS... they did not even know that they were coming. They just showed up, and they had no input...3 white, 3 San Marino Blue. Wife has a SMB. If BMWNA specs them, you know that they will be in the launch color...Misanus Blue. As stated above, despite waiting for 2 years at this price, you need to get exactly what you want. It most likely would be a deal breaker. When the E46 M3 came out, my dealer's first car was the official Laguna Seca Blue launch color(which I personally don't like either). So there is a track record here. Oh my. |

If you look at the grand scheme of things, some countries like Sweden only get 6 allocations for the M2CS.

I just checked the driving school site, the 'Ring or Hockenheimring are the closest to me. Guess we'll wait and see for the packet to tell us what our choices are. From what I've seen, USAA pricing is considerably higher than Allianz, but IIRC they offer multicar discounts which may help things. Allianz seems to just do it by car and it doesn't matter if you have one, two or three, the price per car stays the same. Hopefully the CS doesn't raise things too much.

The team at Bavarian just sent me some pics of my car. Is this the first US spec car we've seen?
Of course I'll take pics when I pick up the car on Friday. I'll also try to get some exhaust sound clips so we can hear a CS without OPF. Last edited by Hulk Smash; 08-19-2020 at 01:06 AM.. |

Just heard from my SA
I just got off a quick product webinar that included the CS and they were specifically referring to “customer options” and “customer selections” so I don’t think there’s any chance of the allocations not being modifiable by the dealerships. Also, they all but confirmed that the standard tire will be the PS4 with the Cup 2’s being an option requiring the signing of a waiver at delivery. They also mentioned that all cars will come with the M Driver’s Package standard which can be upgraded to a full one day or two day M School instead. They said it’s basically a $1,550 credit at the Performance Center that can be used towards an upgrade. This was the first I’ve heard of this. I'll likely order with the PS4S if they are an option. |

There was no mention if the track connect sensors/module came with the car. I'm beginning to believe that it does not. I'm almost certain I read somewhere the Michelin was going to expand the tech to the PS4S, but I can't find the article anymore. He also mentioned that allocations were going to come out September - December. This makes me think that allocations are going to come out on a rolling basis.
