The power difference between and M2 and my 2015 LCI M3 was very marginal if any IMO. I might put a JB4 on it and run the extra 15-20% increase in power and enjoy it for what it is! The sound of the M2 kicks the absolute SHIT out of an F80 M3 even with an Mperformance exhaust! |

Apparently the comp pack m2 is here Q3 2018?? At 90K they are an amazing buy the M2! The comp pack will have to be up around the 125k mark especially it its going to the the S55. That's well into 2nd hand low kms M3 comp pack money. Last edited by JL1; 02-02-2018 at 02:50 AM.. |

M2 is 4.3sec 0/100 IMO that is reflected when you drive them back to back. I drove a new M2 LCI last weekend back to back with a new comp pack M3 and the M3 only felt marginally faster. I felt the M2 was quicker through the corners but the M3 was a little faster in a straight line. As a weekend blast car the M2 is an absolute Pissa!! So you have ordered an M2 CS not knowing what engine etc is coming in it yet? What dealership took the order? Last edited by JL1; 02-02-2018 at 03:41 AM.. |

0-100 is not how you judge the power of a car. In gear acceleration and over a longer distance M2 is no where near M3. Plenty of videos out there if you don’t believe me. In any case you can feel it anyway. But yes, I definitely think my M2 is much more fun than my M3 for many reasons. |

Yes that has been discussed to death on various forums and it’s the truth especially when you take into account the deep discount on M3CP. But I get the feeling the M2 Competition (apparently it isn’t Comp pack but a new M car naming convention) will be less than people think. CS though, will be more than people are expecting.

I suppose the battle I'm having is do I wait until the end of the year for an S55 CP M2 or buy this car now with the N55 and put a JB4 or something similar in it? Not sure if the S55 even with the power upgrade will get me as excited when I'm in an M2? The truth is it just won't sound as good. |

I'd be fairly certain that there is a lot more to the N55 in the M2 than a flash job. Quote:
I've heard the S55 in the M3/4 and I think it sounds crap. The thing running through my head when I hear it is ... "why pay all that money for such a shit sounding car"...? The answer is that those owners have probably bought their car for more than the engine note I just hope that BMW do a better job on the engine note of the S55 in the upcoming release than what has been done in the M3/4. It'd be a shame to spoil what is already a very very good thing. Cheers, |

Curious why people are saying the new M2 is no good because of the sound of the S55 engine... quality of sound is down to the exhaust it's not all engine related... current M2 shares the same engine as 135/235/335/435... those cars with stock exhaust sounds completely different. Bmw engineers just put a more aggressive exhaust on the M2 stock so it sounds better (sounds the same as the non m car with an exhaust).
M3/M4 is a mass market car, Bmw intentionally put a more muted exhaust as stock, they sound good with an aftermarket exhaust.

If you’re not in a rush I’d suggest waiting. With the new CP M2, BMW will have a few old stock M2’s sitting around and pretty sure they’ll offer heavy incentives at that time to move them. You’ll be able to decide them which you prefer and probably grab yourself a bargain.

How long do you think the wait for this will be? Are we talking a month or 2 or more like a year? |

That's if you're willing to put a deposit down early... which is probably now as it's expected to be announced in March. Next is if you're willing to pay full retail... without knowing how much it is as after announcement they won't announce pricing for another few months. For me I refuse to pay full retail just to be an early adopter... I'd say late 2019 if you want any discounts. Which will Be end of my 5 year finance... but probably would've got something by then lol

Then wait until the S55 has been released for 8-12 months and start negotiating on most likely a 2020 built car. |
