You do realize not everybody needs to think like you do right?

To him, much like it would be to me, a scratch like that is a big deal. The wait has been long, the car is hard to get and any damage just plain sucks.

There's no need for you to go bashing a fellow forum member over his worries or his posts/threads. Also, given you both have about the same number of posts and he has 3x the rep, I would be careful to say his contributions are useless and superfluous.

At the end of the day, you can always choose not click or comment on his threads if it bothers you so much.

Give the guy a break, a lot of us I'm sure don't just see a car as being a means of just getting from point A to B, we are passionate about our vehicles and take pride in keeping it looking as good as possible, especially one that's only a week old.
Personally i am very OCD and I know any stone chips, scratches or damage that any of my cars incur make me feel terrible, i get shit from my friends and family for being like this but i don't care.

Although, now that you have created this thread, all of your future build threads will be ruined. You will have pics of your latest and greatest mods and all we will be thinking about is that scratch at the bottom of your car. You'll have comments like "See, I cant even see that scratch" or "How did they install that lip over that huge scratch?" Instead of the normal "Wow, that looks awesome!" or "Dude, you are my hero with that cool mod!"

I think you can sand it down lightly and try touch up, it won't hurt it so if you don't like it you can get it repainted. Another option is to ask the local dealer who they have do their touchup work on their used cars. Contact that guy and give him a shot. I did that once, paid the guy 20 bucks and in 5 mins the touched the area up well enough that it was really tough to see. For cars like this these days it is almost inevitable that you will get some damage to that area. I think Xpel might have minimized the damage or perhaps protected it entirely but of course you would have to have your bumper redone so either way this stuff kind of comes with the territory. Only real way to avoid it

Alex, you should be able to find a local 'smart' repair company that can flat back and locally spray just the damaged section. Should not be noticeable at all afterwards if done correctly.

$100 should cover this easily.

XPEL isn't magic. It would be worse b/c you would have to redo the XPEL after you repaint the damage. So the repair would be way more expensive.

I believe that is exactly what I said. I pointed out that it "might" have helped but then he would have had to redo the Xpel. Chill

Sorry, I think he XPEL helps some but having had it on a previous car, I know it's limits and seeing everyone wrapping their entire cars and I can't help but think of the old days at grandma's house

If anyone who is worried about that bit of nothing, (Sorry OP), they would be horrified at the leading edges of my i8 and M6. The i8 has over 23,000 miles and I'm not shy with the accelerator or speed. They have both been blasted on, 'enthusiastic drives' by my fellow 'n'er do wells' and at the track. In our group there is only one guy who frets about this stuff. The rest, Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren owners, etc., wear these as badges of honor for cars that are actually used as intended.

No Garage Queens.
