BMW LBB Rally Car

Strong start for Alan Roe in Australian Targa Championship

The motorsport year has raced to a strong start for Dayco Australia Rally Team driver Alan Roe at the opening round of the 2018 CAMS Australian Targa Rally Championship held in Northern Tasmania.

The new season has seen the Dayco sponsored team part ways with their trusty and successful Mitsubishi Evo 6, making the move to a brand new BMW M2.

After spending the off season testing and developing the team’s impressive new tarmac rally car, Roe and co-driver Michael Lloyd made a successful racing debut in Tasmania in February.

The Dayco BMW M2 team were immediately on the pace from the start of the rally, running in third position after a very wet and treacherous opening day. The slippery conditions continued into the second day, with Roe and Lloyd maintaining superb pace to earn a podium finish in their debut race with their new car.

According to Dayco racer Alan Roe, the team’s detailed pre-season work is paying dividends.

“During the rally off-season we have put many hours into refining the M2 for the demands of Tarmac rallying. Shepparton BMW have helped us to get the most out of the latest electronic systems that are present in the M2.

“We have worked closely with MCA Suspension to get the handling more to our liking and have recently been able to gain access to the ECU for some added performance tuning. Of course our Dayco belts and thermal management components are always up to the demands of front line tarmac racing.”

The Dayco BMW M2 will be racing at the three remaining 2018 CAMS Australian Targa Rally Championship rounds, starting with one of the world’s most renowned Tarmac Rally events, Targa Tasmania from April 16 to 21.

This is followed by Targa Great Barrier Reef from August 31st to 2nd of September and Targa High Country in Victoria from November 9 to 11.
