A better M2 Competition base US pricing poll

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Now that all the details except pricing has been released, I think it's time we see how us forum members' expectations stack up against reality.

The other poll ranges from $65-105K with 15K bins, which doesn't really provide useful data if we are referring to the impending M2c. Here's a better one

That last poll was outdated, started when most were still under the impression we were getting an overpriced CS model.

I'd guess the base would be around $65k. Interesting question. We can probably predict that track performance will be on par with several cars over that price. It is still between M4 and 240i in price.

WHAT?! Everyone keeps saying they knew since 2016 the S55 was coming in a future base model! Strange so many would guess such a high price in that previous poll. I guess they meant the real CS model, not the base model with the S55 that they knew was coming years ago.....

Yeah, people just refused the writing on the wall. Even though the VIN numbers Artemis had for months told the story and the fact the N55 M2 was ending production. A lot of people thought it was an actual CS model coming, or when the Competition badge became known...they kept saying new badge equals big price hike.

Right there with ya in one of Artemis original threads. Writing was on the wall for some time this wasn’t going to be some rare expensive special model. They were going to keep it attainable, since base M2 was ending production.

Now have additional pricing besides UK.

N55 M2 - 59,900 Euros
M2C - 61,900 Euros

Only 3.35% increase in msrp. All options listed are the same price as listed for current N55 M2.

I suspect BMW will keep it below the $60K threshold. If the US price also only goes up 3.35%, it will be a bargain.

Don't forget, most people who voted on the previous poll (myself included) were operating on the erroneous assumption that the base car and the competition were both going to be sold. Based on other M competition packages, I can guarantee you that the cost of the M2C would have been higher in that situation.

My local dealer guessed ~$68 USD for the M2C, including a 10k dealer markup over MSRP so I'd say something like just under $60K with full options makes sense.

I've said for a long time that the price increase over would be a minimal adjustment.

Historically this has been the case when bmw has updated motors as follows.

BMW E90 330 became 335

BMW Z3M and M Coupe S52 to S54

E36 M3 S50 to S52

The M2 began at 52,000 and went to 54,500. I expect about $2250 jump to the M2 Competition.

$56,750

I have always said just under 60K - somewhere in the 58-59 range, so I will stick with that.

Best CP price for M2 should be under $60K, in range of $59K-60K.

You know, I was one who thought there would be a big hike with the new badge - mainly because I paid 5K or whatever it was for the ZCP on my F80, and the changes from M2 --> M2C seem to be more drastic and numerous.

If we are still under 60K for the M2C here in the US, it's arguably more of a steal compared to the original car.
