Free 3yr maintenance on the pre-owned M2C

Hi,

I got my 2021 M2C (pre-owned) delivered last week . The car didn't come with Carplay so I checked with my local dealer and figured out the previous owner didn't activate the account in 'MyBMW'. They did it for me (not transferred to me), and the 'scheduled maintenance (3yr/36k miles)' shows active in MyBMW app. Does it mean as the second owner, I still have the free 3yr maintenance?

Thanks,

Yup, I found the same on mine. CarPlay was activated already and I do have the maintenance in the app and my local dealer confirmed as much.

I would be surprised if the maintenance transfers. You can activate it under your name for the remaining time period for $100.

This probably depends on where you live. In Australia the service pack transfers with the car(no cost). But, the service pack is an add on not an automatic entitlement…

Op is in the US. Basic 3 year maintenance is not transferable without a fee.

Can confirm this. I was purchasing a used '21 M2C before finally finding an allocation and dealership mentioned the maintenance did not come with the car.

Sometimes SAs will let it slide if the car is new enough. Happened with my 2018. Bought it used at the end of 2018 with like 3600 miles. My SA did some magic and let me get the 3/36 maintenance for free.

Thank bro. Just paid $110 (incl. tax) to refresh the schedule 3yr maintenance. I felt the financial manager was not very happy

BMW Bellevue, I definitely don't want to work with them anymore but it is the closest.

Yep. BMW Bellevue is the worst of the three dealerships. Most of us go to BMW Seattle.

Here is a poll on the local dealers: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1715470

At the Fort Walton Beach Fl dealership, I was told there was no transfer fee for the remainder of the warranty on my used 2019. In fact they have replace both tail lights for free.

Not the warranty. We are talking about maintenance. Warranty transfers with no problem.

OP, just a follow up to what I said earlier, I recently had my brake fluid covered under the maintenance plan for free even though I'm not the 1st owner and never paid to have the plan transferred. YMMV though. Also, since the plan ends about 3mo before my next scheduled oil change, he said he may be able to get it covered if it's within 3mo so I'll probably give that a try.

Tail lights aren't maintenance though (oil changes, brake fluid, etc.), which is what we're discussing here. Tail lights are covered under the regular factory warranty, which is transferrable without a fee.
