2021 M2C wrinkles in leather seats

My M2C has about 1,300 miles and I took delivery in August. The drivers seat already has some pretty excessive wrinkles for a new car. I'm wondering if this is pretty common? I spoke to the dealership I purchased the car from and they said they could they could replace the leather under warranty. I'm wondering if it would be worth it? I just don't want a hack job with a reupholstering after it's left the factory. Thoughts?

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with it. Here's my 2020 after 13k miles and i feel like it was always this way...maybe someone with a newer 2021 will chime in

Yup. Mine looks similar at 11K miles and my F80 (same seats) also looked similar. And I'm not exactly a heavyweight at 6', 155 lbs. Do NOT let anyone touch the seats. Just think of it as patina.

F80 did not have the same leather
Yes, I know. Nonetheless, my F80 had the same wrinkles and the seat structure/design is the same (except lumbar support delete in my F80 because it was a competition model with the backrest cut-outs). My only point to the OP is to not have his local dealer "fix" this.

You think the dealer will make it worse? That’s my fear. I’m otherwise wondering how to remedy this. I tried using a blow dryer and that helped a little. I may try using a steamer and then wiping the seats down. Heat should be able to shrink the leather.

I don't think you can remedy it in a way that will last. This is pretty much how they all are.

Even after confirmation from 10 posts that your seats are normal, what are you trying to get fixed? Unless they are giving you new seats, fixing anything is asking for trouble?

Hmm. It is very interesting that the OG M2 seats don’t have this problem.

I wouldn't call it a problem. That's just the way the comp seats are designed. The OG seats have a totally different leather pattern on them.

To the op... that's just how they wear based on the seat design. 4000 miles in and mine look similar.

Haha yeah, if you can’t tell by now, I’m pretty ocd. If I could, I would take a poll to see if it’s worth having the dealer repair them. I agree that unless they are willing to replace the seats, it’s not worth it. Thanks for the feedback!

2020 with 12K miles. Looks exactly the same. Based on all the comments, I think this is just a thing.

Sucks, but eh, it is what it is.

Welcome to Dakota leather. The worst leather in a lineup of BMW leathers that are all terrible. So glad to see Senatec getting used more extensively in the new 2 because you may as well have it over Dakota. In your case you have the bonus of crappy QC. Mine don't look like that but it's very common.

Having fought with BMW leather for decades the best thing you can do is use a quality cleaner and follow up with conditioner frequently.

I've had Dakota leather in all my BMWs, and while it may not feel like Lexus leather, the leather has held up really well after 8 years of ownership in all of them. Just keep it clean, and condition it twice a year and it'll last forever

Can you show us the picture of yours and mileage on the car please?
Because EVERY M2C seat looks exactly like the OP and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the QC of the seats.

You are right that Dakota is the bottom leather quality on the BMW scale.
