Are these seats just....... uncomfortable?
Are the M2C seats uncomfortable for anyone else? I'm loving almost everything else about the car but cant seem to find a comfortable position for these seats no matter what I do. I've been tinkering with the lumbar adjustments for three months now and ...... still tinkering.

The only seat I think is more comfortable is my Steelcase Leap. Looking at them I thought I might feel the same as you, but I find them to be rather comfortable.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I only drive my car on the weekends, but it took me several months to find a seating position that works with the steering wheel, pedals, and shift lever. After over a year of ownership, I still find the placement of the armrest, iDrive controller, and window controls to be a problem. I can either be in a comfortable/correct position for driving or for controlling the windows and iDrive, but not both.
I still find myself going for the seat memory button, thinking the seat was moved out of place. |

3 hours is about the max my ass can take in the M2C. Need to get out and walk around and regroup.
Just a brutal transition from the multi contours in the wife's 5 series. |

I'm with you on 3hrs. The seat bottom isn't that comfortable for me and neither is the area by the shoulders. It curves forward and pushes my shoulders forward which gets fatiguing. I can easily drive double the length of time on the M-sport seats, much better thigh support and wide enough in the shoulders.

I prefer the looks of the M2C seats but kept my M2 because I found the seats much more comfortable.

I think this is common with the M2C/M3/M4 seats, as I haven't read such issues with the OG M2 seats. ^^^^What he said

On the multi contours the ability to adjust the upper half of the seat back was a game changer. Can really dial in the curvature of the spine and get just the right amount of support. I use the standard thigh extension as well. Seat bottom padding much better and expected in a comfort/luxury seat. |

I had to tinker with the lumbar support but after a couple of tweaks early on, I can now do an 8-hour trip with no issues.
What does irk me though is the seat bottom. The cushion is very narrow if you're a bigger cat like me (6'1, 240). My ass barely fits between the bolsters, and most of the time is on top of one or both of them. No such issue in my Golf R or my old Z4M, or anything else I've ever owned. Annoying but not a deal-breaker.

I think they are comfortable for the type of seats they are... definitely not a Lexus Ls, thats for sure.

I complained on every survey BMW sent me. Adjusting the seat helped somewhat, but like many have said I’m good for 2-3 hours max. Part of it may be due to my old boney bottom. Even our X3 isn’t a lot better imho. But I still love the car. Keeping it until my kids take the keys. :-)

Oddly enough, the passenger seat is more comfortable. The driver seat feels like there's a bar or something too far up that I can't adjust with any of the controls but I dont feel it on the passenger side. Are they the same seat? |

I'm 5' 11" and the seats are OK with me. I've done 6 hour trips with a couple of short breaks.
I will say that initially I had issues with the thigh bolsters digging in. I heard you could push them out a bit. That helped along with removing stuff from pockets on long trips and just the fact of getting used to them. Plus be sure to adjust the seat tilt on occasion to vary pressure on your legs and spine. Also note to reduce the lumbar pressure, press in with your back as you hold the button. Also any time adjusted, it inflates a bit, so release it back out once in position.

I definitely had issues for the first six months or so of ownership. I'd think i was comfortable and then find my back hurting after a couple of hours. Continually tweaking the seat settings though eventually got me to a place where i've found 2 nice long distance solutions that fit me. It really took a long time to find those positions though.
I still occasionally get tailbone pain from the seat, but it's much worse in most chairs I sit in (i suffer from chronic tailbone pain.) And I can always just switch it up to my other position if I do feel a little bit uncomfortable. Overall: 8/10 for comfort for me. But it took a long time to find my setup. I'm 5'8" and a little bit chunky. |

I love em, except for the lack of ventilation.
My F-350 has the massaging seat option, but on every trip I take with it, my neck and shoulders get so tight and sore. I haven't found a decent seat/steering wheel position to fix it yet. Comparatively, the M2C seats just seem to work. Which was strange because I always found low option/less adjustable seats easier to set up and be happy with. Too many positions to mess with makes me question my position settings way too much, but not in the M2C. My opinions aren't very valid here though. Because the best and most comfortable seat for me is a stock bench seat found in the 67-72 Chevy C/K-10/20 series trucks. If I could jam one of those in the little M2C, maybe with some beaded seat covers, that would be dope as hell.

The M2CS seats go quite a bit lower, look nicer and have much nicer leather. However. After an hour or so you are arching your back to escape the pain. So. Be careful what you wish for. |

OP if you haven't already, I'd suggest adding a clutchstop to reduce travel. That really improved things for me.
For spirited driving I have a happy driving position, but 3+ months in, still working on the highway miles position.
