Up to $70k. Unreal. That’s more than I paid (including TT&L) for the special content package with LA high tax rate.

I don't understand how any buyer thinks it's a good idea to purchase at these prices.

There was a time when I was cross shopping the OG with M2C and thought to myself, hey, I can enjoy the best of both if I buy the OG now and find a lightly used M2C a few years after.

That plan is in the trash bin at these prices.

Everything I’m seeing on auto trader is in the mid-60 range.
The seller on this particular auction is going to put some amount of money back towards the buyer as well as to the loser of the auction. He is mostly looking to screw over the dealer who lowballed him. It’s in the comments.

Also HS plus orange stitching is definitely rarer. When I was looking to spec my car in 2019 I had a lot of trouble finding pictures of cars in this combo. Was always the blue stitching. But I also doubt that makes any sort of difference one way or another. Give it another decade or two and people WILL actually start to care about the minutiae though.

Because of the supply chain shortages, people are getting emotional and making less than ideal financial decisions. It was a coincidence that I felt like 2021 was the year I wanted my dream car, but because of that, I also paid a "little" bit extra and came up with justifications for doing so. But the financial side of that decision DID eventually creep in almost 3 months later.

The market is the market, the good thing is if any buyer has something to sell before buying, they will largely be unneffected by the crazy market because they should ALSO be able to sell what they have for a crazy inflated price. It goes both ways.

Don't forget seller was paying thousands of that back to the winning bidder and $500 to the runner up. So its not really technically costing the buyer $73,500. The seller created a bid incentive to bid the car up.

The seller incentive is just marginally higher than the C&B auction fee. The buyer will likely still need to arrange transportation and pay taxes. All in all, buyer is paying quite a bit.

$69,250 to the seller after he provides discounts to buyer and second place bidder. Still not shabby.

I mean hell, there's dealers asking $83K for a Comp with more miles. However I think that is an outlier. The majority of high priced Comps are in the mid to high 70s.
So buyer pays $73,500 (sales price) + 4.5% buyers fee (according to the website) so that's $76,807.50. Plus i'm guessing since this is an auction, the buyer is somewhere else, so we have to figure in shipping of, lets say $1500. That's $78,307.50.
There's the high 70s number I was talking about.
Used M2s cost more than new M3s. Wow.

I used CarGurus to sell it. Sold in 2 days. My list price was 68K.

I have an corvette C8 allocation slated for mid 2022. I currently have a loaner from family. (Twin turbo 335is convertible with DCT).
Damn getting the base C8 right before the Z06 release. sad day.

I actually am canceling the C8 allocation now. I decided for a more tame, more practical 2022 BMW M240i xDrive (4 seats) in Melbourne Red with all the options I could throw onto it. Should be delivered late December this year.

Side note as well, I drove a Ford Mach-E GT on Sunday... holy cow it was fun to drive. So, put in an order there as well, but that won't be built for at least 28 weeks per Ford. I plan to drive the 2022 M240i until my Mach-E GT is delivered so I can finally convert to electric. We'll see how it goes.

I'm about as bi-polar with vehicle choices as anyone could be. Maybe a mid life crisis... I dunno.

I don't miss the M2C like I thought I would though now that its been a couple weeks.

European enthusiast cars have become unreasonably expensive. M2C likely hitting $70k with the G87 model, M3/4 never seen at dealers below $80k, base 911 now easily above $100k, and even 4-cyl Boxster/Caymans stickering at $75k.

Local dealership here has a used G87 M4 listed at $99k.

It truly is crazy to think that you could have bought a new G80/G87 and walked away with $10k more in your pocket months later...
