Yes. Production Progressed. It's delivered! WK20+ gang have their M2Cs!

Thought a counterpoint to BrianF18's commiserations on delays thread might be in order, as our late allocations start/continue turning up at the dealers. So here we go

Got my LBB yesterday and have to say I am chuffed to bits! Picked up from BMW of Monterey (who were professional adults from start to finish) and unless there is a dealer tucked away in the mountains somewhere, I couldn't imagine a better one to pick a car up at.

I usually come down to play golf a few times a year - and did sneak in an early round yesterday - but to top it off with picking up the M2C, was way way better than normal.

Drive up Hwy 1, let the car stretch its legs some with the combo of highway and A roads.

Size: 260.2 KB

Then I was super fortunate to get an open blat all the way from the bottom of 84 up to Alices. 2/3rds throttle and 5k max shifts and still it was a brilliant way to shake down the car. I actually thought I was going to get stuck 1/2 way up behind a minivan but they pulled over for me

Quick stop at Alices and then down Skyline Blvd, which is techbros + motors road: 2 GT4s, mix of M cars and other Porsches, and a handful of BRZ/86s.

Then some boring Bay Area highways for the final stretch and safefully home after a 15hr day!

Thanks!
Ya that is the M Performance Wheel. Got it along with the pedals and the rear spoiler as PIAs. Nice to have them on the invoice for warranty purposes.

I wanted to 'sporty up' the cockpit a bit and I think those do it nicely. Have to say it feels great. It pinches in at 9 & 3 right where you want it to.

I'm weak...after seeing your pics I emailed my SA earlier today and had him add the M pedals, M steering wheel, and carbon fiber trim

Sensible. The word you are looking for is sensible

With the Adaptive LEDs coming 'for free' for us and heated wheel not compatible with the M wheel - they canceled each other out price wise vs not getting the Exec Pack. Can't lose choice really

I actually said to the SA, while we were driving a round the block during the 'get to know your car' phase of the sale, how pleased I was with the wheel. As sight unseen (or should I saw touch un-touched) didn't know for sure. Going to be sure to look after the Alcantara and job done!

Edit: One important note. IIRC the make-you-a-better-driver-apexing-corners stripe in the middle of the steering wheel is blue for manuals and red for DCTs. Just incase it throws a bad colour combo in there for you.

Ahh, thanks I didn’t realize that about the stripe. Fortunately mines a manual and I have the blue leather trim inside so it works out great.

Congrats! You’re killing me talking about those roads. Growing up on the peninsula, 84 from Redwood City to San Gregorio was my favorite road, as well as Skyline Blvd & 92. 84 probably still my favorite road anywhere. Such a great road to safely blast along at 8/10ths.

Favor, do you happen to have the BMW codes for the items I mentioned? So the steering wheel, steering wheel trim, and pedals? It will be something like “Z24”. My salesperson rarely does port installed options and is confused, so I need to help him out a bit. Thx!

He/she has easy access to a full list of the available M Performance port-installed items and their pricing. My CA wasn't familiar either when I sat down with her to order my car, so she simply got up and came back 3 minutes later with all the details printed out. Your CA could get off his/her lazy ass and do the same thing.

You would think it would be that easy, lol. He sent me some screen shots of his internal system showing no port installed options are available for the M2C...so yeah, he needs help.

Thank you kind sir...stupid question, if I get the M Perf steering wheel, I am assuming they also give me the stock OEM wheel as well?

No actually. Don't know what they do with it, but you don't get it. So you pay a fair wack and then maybe the VDC tech gets to put it on eBay ;-)

Three things...
1. Congrats on taking delivery!
2. I saw your wheel and now I want it too, even if the blue stripe won't make sense (imo) with an orange on orange spec. Just emailed my CA for PIO availability. My accountant (wife) is going to hate you.
3. Congrats on taking delivery!

Hope your trip home went well!

Realized it would be a red stripe as opposed to blue after seeing the edit above.

I only enable boring car or golf related purchases - as opposed to less salubrious options - so totally harmless and used to significant other's blame
Ya I hope that colour thing is correct -I am only IIRCing with pretty decent conviction - but not 100%

Still blue
TBH I made myself go for a little spin last night, to fill up the tank, but really apart from that I maybe put on 15 miles this weekend. Living in a city you have to make a genuine effort to get out and find some roads.
My two main practical takeaway negatives (I knew before I got it) are: I miss having a sunglasses holder and I miss have a big 'ol MPH display (although I do love the digital speedo/tach)
I do now have to go back to 'nice car' protocols: park off in the distance at golf courses/grocery stores, no food in the cabin, and coffee needs to be drank down to a suitable level that nothing can sneak out while driving

I took delivery today. Very low key. F&I taking forever plus being late for a dinner means I hardly enjoyed it. Tomorrow it's off for detail, clear bra and tint. Then the fun begins. Pictures to follow.
