Haha same here bud. I started looking at these cars in January, placed an order in February, finally got an allocation late March, and am now 2 weeks away from delivery......and this car has consumed my brain and most of my free time in some way for the last 6 months. And the crazy thing is that this entire journey has only made me more excited.

I've dreamed of owning a car like this since i was in elementary school. And sometimes as an adult it feels like you're chasing that feeling you had when you were a kid as Christmas or a birthday was approaching. With PCD approaching, this is probably the closest I've ever felt to that in my adult life. The whole experience is just so damn exciting. And then to think of all of the fun memories I'll make with this car, the new friends I've already made or will make, etc...

OP, so glad you were able to secure an allocation. Enjoy the experience!!!!

Congrats to the OP on getting his order placed.

I dragged my heels forever, thinking there was more time, but I got the last allocation my dealer had on Memorial Day 5/31. Had a VIN and notification it was in the production queue by 6/3.

I also just want to say thanks to everyone who helped and contacted me via pm. I had a lot of suggestions for dealerships with possible allocations and words of advice and encouragement for finding one of these at the last minute.

I am really grateful for the time and support from everyone. I understand this is just a car, and this is probably ridiculous, but I'm excited and appreciative about rejoining the community.

I actually made a log for people in this camp. Your mileage may vary of course, but here is my personal experience:

Timeline to date:
Apr 2 - Placed order
Apr 8 - Scheduled for production (might have been earlier)
Apr 16 - Production begins
Apr 30 - morning; Exterior assembly, in the paint booth, and entering the assembly line
Apr 30 - mid-day; assembly in progress!
Apr 30 - late afternoon; Quality check
May 4 - Final Assembly, Ready for Transport, Awaiting Carrier Assignment, and Dispatched from Factory
May 5 - At the port
May 10 - In transit (actually departed May 9 per Genius, aboard the Sirius Highway. Set to arrive May 28 to South Carolina vehicle processing center)
May 28 - Arrived at the port in the US
Jun 28 - PCD date (scheduled)

Mostly aesthetics. Carbon lip, winglets, interior carbon, new steering wheel. Maybe HREs in the future. Performance wise I'm not looking to drop anything major on the car for awhile, if ever. I might round out the M Performance Exhaust with an intake though. I had a 2020 STI that was my previous toy which I sold earlier this year and chasing HP #'s can be a slippery slope.

The fact the DME is locked, and I don't want to jump straight to a pinned crank hub is probably better for my wallet too. I'm less inclined to bump HP if I can't tune it and I won't go piggyback. Just looking to personalize and build out a fun cruiser.

One thing that has me really curious is if the new G8X M3/4 Carbon seats will fit.

Two M2C test drives and I felt like it would be difficult to upgrade the chassis and suspension to match the power of the motor and drive line of the m240i.

In too many words I basically said I believe I will be happy with the vehicles power so I wont be adding a bunch of additional performance parts, and that I just want to add a bunch of look good carbon stuff to it.
