I ordered my M2C (SO Metallic, sunroof, DCT, exec) on April 2. It went into production on the 28th, then everything stopped on April 29. Since then it's been in "quality check," coming up on three weeks this Friday. How should I interpret such a long period in "quality check"?

These threads are funny - I am not old but remember just getting a call from the dealer "your car is here" - everything turned out fine.

Too much information != better quality of life.

Deep breath folks. BMW will get you your car

Things are flying along now....Its crazy. Weeks of nothing and then the last three days have been too fast to keep up with. Showing that's its built and awaiting carrier. Amazing to me how fast they can produce a car once it starts the process.

I agree with you, but the process is half the fun for sure...

Meanwhile mine was assembled before yours, and still stuck in QC.

Unrelated, but neat story....I ordered an X5M 9 Jan 21 (or real close to it) and got it less than 3 weeks later. Different factory, but I thought that seemed really fast. In September 2017, it took 4 months got take delivery of our F33 when we ordered it.
That's the difference between Spartanburg versus overseas, no 4 week process to ship across the Atlantic. The rest of the difference is timing between an allocation and production slot.

Per a Spartanburg factory tour, their turn-around is 3 days from production slot to completed car. Most of that is in the paint booth area.

Bummer - are you sitting at 150/production begins already?
I sort of have an expectation mine will kickoff properly tomorrow - as it will have been at 'production begins' for a fortnight but who knows, maybe I'll see a further bump in your direction.

The X5M def had an allocation, that's why we got it. We weren't down to wait like we did with the F33 and couldn't find any with the options we wanted (all of em) in Tanzanite Blue.

I am in Australia and ordered mine just before Christmas, it went into production late March, it is finished but still sitting awaiting shipping according to my dealer.
Probably wont see it till July...I hope!
But I do get to drive my OG N55 for a bit longer and with no overseas business travel I have done the same miles in the last year as the total of the first 3 years of my lease.
That is one good part of not being away for more than 6 months of the year normally.

I've been in 112 status for what seems like "too long", but I'm trying to be patient and not fret about it too much. Before too long my sweet little baby will arrive and all these long weeks of waiting will be immediately forgotten 😎

I was delayed a week or two with no explanation but just hit the assembly line this morning

UPDATE: we are flying, already through quality checks and awaiting carrier assignment to the port from factory!

Don't forget guys, "Production Begins" is a silly name for that stage, as your car is still about 15 days away from hitting the assembly line when it hits this status. Once it finally IS "in production", it breezes down the line in a day or two. But that wait seems like forever, especially with the misleading label.

I'm guessing we are going to be on the same boat. Mine was on the way to the port this morning when I looked.

Are you doing a Performance center delivery? I plan too. No cost visit to SC for a day of driving at the track...no brainer.

Slight detour on the post, are all you who will be getting M2C's expecting to get Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires as the default? I was curious because with the new G8X platform, half of them are getting the MP4S tires, half are getting Pirellis. I am hoping/expecting to get the Michelins on my M2C.
