UK MOT test - reflector delete
Any UK owners who've done the rear bumper reflector delete, be aware it will fail the MOT test (lucky I had a pre-MOT check first)
Got some ebay 99p reflectors and sticky pads for the test, take straight off afterwards... |

I wish somebody made a reflector overlay in the fin or hex pattern that you could glue onto the reflector, so that it would shine through when lit up but be sort of obscured otherwise. To me that would be preferred to replacing the whole thing with a piece of black plastic (especially since you need to semi-pull bumpers, and I'm chicken to warp something or break a clip off). Shouldn't be hard to 3d print - if anybody wants to try it I'd chip in for a set.

I have the Acexxon parts and I like them, but the rear reflectors don't look too bad to me. If I saw them in person beforehand I probably would have just left the reflectors on there.

I use the GoldenWrench Supply reflector overlays. It's a very high quality and unique film with the hexagon pattern. I had to turn up the exposure and contrast to get the details to show up in the below picture. The film serves the same purpose as the reflector delete except installs in minutes with no tools and comes with the added benefit of retaining the reflector function.

Also picked up a pair, hard to beat with the sale. I have the other installable vent looking reflector replacements, but don't have a jack to pull off the rear tires yet, so this lets me be lazy.

Personally I feel these overlays are the best option because you still retain the reflector functionality. Add in the lower cost and ease of installation, it's a no brainer!

Glad you passed ok.
I was worried as mine has decat downpipes and race cats in place of OPF.... Passed no problems. In fact it flew the emissions check, just shows how clean modern engines run. |
