Downside of our cars going up in value

Got my insurance renewal today for my 2019 M2c. Yearly policy went from around $1050 to a little over $1400. Most of the increase was in Comprehensive and collision. My wife’s RDX just went up a few percent so something with the M2 caused it to go up more than 30 percent. I can only surmise that insurance companies are looking at the used car prices.

Insurance rates are going down across the board. Good market returns means lower insurance among other factors...

You need to shop around....

I am glad to see everyone’s insurance has gone down. I am with Safeco an am going to question my agent as to what is going on.

We had Safeco and they were literally 2x the cost of Progressive. When I went line by line through exclusions and contract details, the tiny advantage safeco had wasn’t worth the added cost.

And my agent claimed it was the best value out there. So…. Get a quote from progressive outside your agent. I was with my agent for 7 years until I realized he actually provided zero value. It took about 10 hours total to set up all of our vehicles, home, umbrella, etc. but I’m saving about $4k/yr doing it myself.

I have Safeco and for two vehicles (2021 X5 and 2021 Jeep) we pay $1170 for 12 months. We have every possible discount though. It was only $400 more when I had my M3 as well.

Just shop around. Your "agent" is worthless, everything is done online now.

Thanks everyone for letting me know about their insurance. My agent shopped it around and then Safeco lowered their price by about $675 for my two cars. I’m happy to stay with Safeco as my house is with them too. I had a broken water pipe in my fixed up basement several years ago and they took care of all damages as I have replacement value. My cars also have replacement value and Safeco provides OEM part coverage which not all insurance companies do. Finally, they lowered my deductibles to $300 for being a loyal customer. I have been with this agency for over 30 years and have been very satisfied.

Hmm. I had to switch from Safeco because they told me they would not insure a M car. I had been a long time customer with zero claims and zero tickets. I am now with Pemco.

Mine also went down, because I barely drive the car, no accidents, parking tickets, not so much as a sneeze gone wrong for 10+ years.

I love having a car that didn't depreciate a ton as soon as I got it. Never had this happen before.

Can literally sell this car for more than I paid for it already. Its crazy

It must be shitty CA because I’m 30 with no tickets/accidents, have my home and 2 cars with USAA. The M alone is $1709 for the year. 300k policy 1k deductible.

It's just your shitty insurance. Shop around. The M2C was 50% cheaper for me to insure with Geico than AAA this year. With the same policy limits and coverage.
