Installed the wheels today. These are heaaaavy. Also the clearance from the caliper is next to none. We will all have a big scratch from a rock in no time.

That said they do look great

Yep. There was some puckering when I first rotated the wheel. Mine came pre built from BMW but anyone picking these up elsewhere without tires will definitely need to consider the placement of the tire weights which can easily hit the caliper.

I don't find them crazy heavy though. APEX wheels are lighter but they weren't too bad.

hmmm...interesting point on the caliper clearance. has anyone compared these 641 to the 437 from a clearance perspective?

There was a Youtube video someone did that showed there is barely any clearance with 641. I would assume it's no better than 437 or 788. Unsure if worse.

I took off Apex EC7s and they are what 1 in wider and feel much lighter when taking off and putting back in the car. I would say they feel like 3 lbs lighter or so. But yeah its fine.

I got mine used and I think the guy had an M3 so of course there were weights right where the caliper was and for a sec I thought I bought 18s lol. I had to remove the weight from the wheel in order to fit the fronts, I am going to get an alignment anyways that has been due and I will have em rebalance the wheels and see if they can avoid that area. I did go for a drive and seemed fine but I did not go much faster than 60 mph since the tires were low, just drove to gas station pumped up tires and back home.

I have not had the 788s in the car for a few months so I honestly do not remember but I think that these have less clearance than the 788 which is interesting for the official winter wheel.

That said, my APEX EC7 have the most clearance since they designed them that way and as I took one of today low and behind a nice line from a stone getting caught in the bbk and the wheel.

437s have Almost no caliper clearance either.

Will get better picture of the caliper

I got my 641M wheels on yesterday. Yes, love the looks so much more than the 788s! Got mine from an M3 owner in the forum classifieds, so they came with the ContiWinterContact 255/35-19 square tire set up.

No rubbing or clearance issues that I can tell so far after taking them out for a quick ride.

I love the semi-gloss satin black finish. And love the simple 5-spoke open design for two reasons: 1) they expose the big brakes and rotors more than the 788s; and 2) so much simpler to clean! They're sick!

One question I did have: What is the speedo error going to be? Does the speedo calculate speed by the front tires or the back tires, or does it go by engine rpm and current gear?

this website does the calculation: https://www.willtheyfit.com/

alternatively, you could look at your GPS reported speed from any phone app and compare to your speedo?

Yes I get so many more compliments on the brakes with these wheels on. I believe my speed discrepancy according to Waze went from about 2 mph with stock wheels/tires to around 3-4mph with the 641

I wonder how much grippier the alpins are over the extreme contacts. I got winter contacts on my 641s and man are they slidey. Maybe I forgot what its like not to have grip after using the Pilot sport 4s

Yeah it feels like an entirely different car with the Sottozeroes. No where near as grippy or nimble, but still fun and capable.

I did try that website. It doesn't do staggered wheels, but I could calculate front and rear separately and it reported:

Front = -1 mph
Rear = +1 mph

So it looks like a wash going to a square 255/35-19 setup.

Confirmed with a Garmin GPS that the speedo reads 2 mph higher than actual speed. Never checked the speedo error with the stock staggered setup, but maybe it's the same?

Anyway, the 641M wheels look fantastic.

Stock tires is about 2 mph higher than actual so it is pretty much a wash.

The error is in the wrong direction, unfortunately. A 275 will cancel it out, 255 will add to the error. Still not a big deal.

Pretty sure this is the first picture of black 641s on an SO M2C, since I looked for pics before purchasing them and couldn't find it.
