It looks to me like most of the new BMWs have hanging udders...have a look.

This from Dinan with X-over pipes and full flap control seems at $2,078.00. Droopy diaper solved and nice adjustable sound. Listen to the video below in the ad.

https://www.uspmotorsports.com/Dinan...lack-Tips.html

The MPerformance Muffler (Just the Muffler, no additional tubing) retains the resonator and S55 Fart sound and is around $3,450.00

The Akropovic M2C system is $5,000+. The damn CF tips are $1,200.00

Where is the pain threshold here? I mean, these cars are not Kia's so I would expect this not to be shocking. I mean, decent PPF can be $2k-$3k, so its all relative I guess.

I went with the Dinan because it was one of the least expensive. My only goal was to get rid of the hideous OEM muffler. The Dinan Tips were too big though. And the claps used were enormous and did not hold them straight.

This post inspired me to do that. Bought some high temp flat black paint and did it yesterday. Turned out very clean!

So other than the Clamps on the tips, how do you like the Dinan Exhaust? Tone, Volume, fit and finish etc.? While Dinan should have updated those clamps, there are several other options available that are better, but you shouldn't have to pay for them IMO. I have see one kit in person prior to installation and honestly, the welds look great, the mandrel bent tubes are done well and overall design and craftsmanship appears to be solid. The T304 stainless steel is not nearly as expensive as the Titanium of the Akropovic, but honestly, that is really overkill as the T304 is fully up to the task and will last forever. I'm guessing material has a great deal to do with the price delta between some of these manufacturers, as well as what's the "Hot Item Name" at the moment.
I have not heard of anyone complaining about any of them not fitting correctly, so I don't think that's going to be an issue.

Like you, I am just looking to do away with the droopy diaper and add some volume to the exhaust note at the same time. I could easily spoof can the muffler with some BBQ flat black, but that only fixes half my wants. Thanks in advance for any responses.

The build quality of the actual exhaust was good. Windows up the sound is just a bit louder than it was stock, however I had the ASD coded out at the same time of installation. It did exactly what I wanted, gave me a little sound while getting rid of the saggy OEM exhaust.

The tips were a disappointing. As I said the clamps were massive and visible and did not clamp correctly. The only other option from Dinan was the black tips. I am happy with my solution, however I have a machine shop so I was able to make something work.

Update I ended up going with arm resonated DP's, AA EQ resonated midpipe and OEM muffler (painted with high temp black spray paint) as I couldn't find anything on the original post set up.

Why does the muffler still show with the N55 exhaust yet on the OG it doesn't show at all?

It still baffles me they gave it that ballsack, what a problem to have on a near-perfect car.

This is genius, would you be able to mock something where the M2 OG muffler can hook up to the Active Autowerke Equal length midpipe for the M2c?

just cut the udder off & install an extra resonator section, either single or dual. I chopped my muffler off and don't regret it one bit.

Actually sounds pretty good! Burbles turned off I assume… what resonators did you add and where? Any pictures? Stock midpipe/dowpipes? I have been looking for an exhaust, I don't want to spend $4K on something that just sounds ok… the EL mids do sound decent though.

Edit: I appreciate you posting by the way!

You're right. All (most) models do now.

Thinking it's somehow related to emissions or to help cool the exhaust?

the burbles are LOUD. i drive in efficient and it's plent. When i want to be obnoxious i put it into Sport + / Sport + for a few minutes and go to town. I'm coming from a loud car so i don't mind it. never bothered with Valved set ups in my life. It seems it's more a bmw thing as when i came from audi, almost no one bothered with Valved set ups. at the end of the day, it's all personal preference. Just know it's not going to sound like shit, but it will be loud. lol

So does this mean you could fit a M2C exhaust on a OG M2?

Yes, it is possible, you just had to cut and weld Vband.

The sound of the m2 og is perfect, mounting the m2c exhaust, apart from adding weight, the sound would change for the worse.
