Cheapest/Safest Way to Ship Wheels?
UPS?
What's the best company to use when shipping wheels? I'm trying to find the cheapest way to ship them safely. Someone suggested GreyHound, anyone shipped with them successfully? |

Unless something has changed, it is easier to ship with UPS but more expensive, Greyhound requires a bit more logistical work but ground freight is very cheap through them. |

I have shipped over 50 sets of wheels, and the best way I know how is UPS, but business to business.
Basically I know someone with a business account, and then ship them from that account to the person's work, or to their local UPS hub. I can ship 4 wheels from Missouri to California for $150, all insured properly. Also, if you don't have wheel boxes, visit your local businesses that sell wheels and get some, no cheap boxes without the proper packing or you've wasted your time shipping them. Box-in-box is best, but as long as all the corners have extra support they should be fine. If you let UPS ship them they guarantee no damage or the claim is easy (otherwise they will pretty much always deny your claim), but they're obviously very expensive. I've used ShipNex, FedEx, and even Fastenal, and UPS does the best in my experience. Greyhound? Wouldn't even consider it. But then again, I ship $3500-$9000 wheels. |

Learned a new life hack recently. Use PayPal's shipping and you get access to super-competitive UPS rates. Haven't tried it, so let us know. Not sure how much of the transaction has be done in PP, but it'll be interesting to learn.
