Radiator issue

I have a ‘19 comp and was visiting dealer who said I had a slow leak due to a puncture. Cost to fix, $2000. Called bmwna to discuss design issues since there is not an adequate mesh cover present. Comment back was that is not their problem, no help on adjustment. I expressed my concern and noted that in the UK they had a mesh cover that could be adapted, per my research. They said no comment on that, just talk to my dealer. Be aware out there guys.

That sucks, but this is a known vulnerability. I would ask if the dealer would be kind enough to install a mesh behind the large intakes for you?

Nothing new. Also this is well known as NOT a warranty item, but rather a road hazard. No different than getting a cracked windshield or headlight from rocks/pebbles.

You can, however, claim this on insurance.

It also costs way less to replace if you DIY or use a good indy.

Which exact radiator leaks?

There are 4 that carry coolant.

Here is what I did. The third photo is an aluminum plate I installed to protect the oil cooler.

Zunsport for me, because I wasn't going to pull the bumper. Your mesh covers look fantastic.

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago.
I was getting petrol and I notice a puddle that widened under the nose on the left.
I immediately went to the BMW (luckily it was 3km away) and I left the car (it was Saturday, the workshop closed, but they picked it up anyway).
On Tuesday they call me saying that the left radiator has been created, but not by a stone / blow / object, probably a manufacturing defect.
The warranty in Italy expires after 2 years, my car has 3, but it was all passed under warranty by BMW. Having always done the coupons in the services only contributed.
I got my car back on Wednesday night, all right as before.

Lol yeah. It sure is a manufacturing defect. A critical function oil cooler facing the damn road surface with no protection lol.

II vaguely recall that the 2 series cars had some kind of a recall or TSB to put in a radiator screen, might want to research that to see - if they did it for a 235, they should do it for an M2.

I have the carbonio plate on the M2, so may need to go the behind the bumper route discussed in the thread linked above….but then would have to remove the bumper, which from the thread looks like a time consuming process.

The tabs that lock onto the stock grill need "adjustment ". I'll try to get you a pic or two when I get home.

How was the install of the Zunsport grills? I'm intrigued by the idea of protecting the radiators but have absolutely no desire to remove the front bumper. These seem to be just the ticket.

It really couldn't be much easier. They have little tabs that you bend with a screwdriver once in place and that's it. Took maybe 10 mins.

And I've had mine on for about 13000 miles, at least 15 track days without any loosening or problems, they are great.

I don't know if this is still valid but others have used my Zunsport loyalty membership card to get a 15% discount.
