Has anyone retrofitted either an oem or aftermarket wireless charger? Could be nice to have one in the center console or if there's a thin enough pad I can stick under the tray in front of the cup holders that could be cool too.

The Z4 has one up front maybe that could be retrofitted

I hate the one in the center console, it changes slow and heats up the phone's battery

A company called SIGHILL makes one that you can get on amazon that fits in that area forward of the cupholders. Worked pretty well when I had it. Its not cheap, but seemed to be made well.

Mine was for an M2C, but I'm pretty sure they had one for the 3 series. Its a whole unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket between the cupholders. It's got a USB A and PD port to replace the cig lighter spot as well.

Confirm fitment, but this looks to be for the 3 series:
