I read and heard so many negative reviewers' comments about the CS steering wheel thickness I was expecting something horrible on delivery. I'd even quoted the M Performance digital wheel and was ready to switch them on delivery.

Imagine my pleasant surprise when I took delivery. The wheel feels no thicker than the M Performance wheel on my F80. IMO opinion it has a great diameter and allowed for a soft or hard grip. My wife has quite small hands and also found it more than comfortable. In fact for both of us it's one of the highlights of the car.

It did make me wonder whether some blog reviewers are copying each others' comments or feedback for the sake of coming up with something negative to say about the car? Needless to say my opinion of their commentary has dropped since experiencing the car personally (JA). The ones that mentioned they liked it despite the mainstream saying otherwise have gone up higher in my opinion (Rorie from Autotrader/ former top gear)

I'm not sure what other owners are thinking now they've driven the car?

It's super comfy. No need for steering wheel heating either. This was a pleasant surprise for me because I believed the lack of heat option to be a negative. Almost need steering wheel cooling. It doesn't get cold, and stays warm while driving.

I've had my M2 CS wheel on my M2 Comp with over 4,000kms of driving now.

I also prefer the thickness of the CS wheel, I don't feel the need to change it to a slimmer one

Joe has tiny hands. I think it's all some sort of personal admission. I love a thicker wheel.

Plus. I have always wanted an OEM Alcantara wheel since the 80s. Can't wait.

It’s a little thicker than Im used to for aggressive / track driving. I do want to order another wheel now as a backup. Anyone know the part number for the stock wheel?

As in, the original m2 cs alcantara wheel or the leather steering wheel?

I wonder if it's the grip that's used too. Skip barber etc teaches you that on track etc your fingertips should be making contact with the rim, more of a gentle pincher grip type thing. The idea that you should be encircling the wheel trying to touch fingertip to fingertip around the wheel is a bit of a ham fisted death grip for driving.

I always did consider the lack of heat to be a negative. Good feedback here.

Context - currently have 2011 e90 328 with Msport wheel . No heat . In the winter the wheel is cold for a bit.

Have had e90 (separate car ) f30, e70 , g01/02/05 all with heated wheel and promised I would never order a car without heated wheel if it is an option.

Luckily for me there is no option for the cs so I am not breaking my promise

Firstly and most importantly. Take ZERO notice of JA, regarding anything motoring related :

I have the CS wheel on my comp and it is great. Even though I have big hands, I do not find the thickness an issue, even if I compare it to the thin wheel in my 991 GT3.

I have run the half leather/alcantara m performance wheel and the shape of that was more annoying than the thickness.

The CS wheel is thick. Looks great and feels special. Good for DD, but not for the track unfortunately.

Why do you think it is bad for track? (I don't by the way, but I do have big hands) curious why more than anything.

Yeah i have small hands, and it doesn't bother me. I thought they wrapped alcantara around leather based on what reviewers were, but i don't think they did. I believe some reviwers are copying each other but i think they were ultimately comparing it against a Porsche GT4 steering wheel (since thats clearly is car's main competitor).

I love Porsche steering wheels, BMW's are fine, but Porsche might be the best of any car manufacturer.

For those of you who just can't live without warm mitts, may I suggest some heated gloves..

They work pretty well - almost too good - and they acts as a twofer; keeping your hands warm and protecting the fragile steering wheel's Alcantara material..

Agreed. I have the M2 CS wheel in my car currently, measures 12.4cm around.

I like the thickness, but wanted to retain heating so I had my stock leather wheel wrapped with alcantara by Coby wheel and it now measures 11.9cm.

I know when I spoke with Dallas Custom steering wheel they offered multiple amounts of padding before wrapping. Joe Achilles mentions he had padding removed from the stock wheel in his M2C before wrapping with Alcantara.

Coby wheel sands down the leather on the stock wheel so it doesn't get too thick.

I think it's because I'm used to Porsche steering wheel for the track and that my hands are average and not big.
