Swap pad depth between street and track?

I have a CP9449 in the rear with which I'm using D50 APF404 pads for street (yes they fit) and planning to get some D42 pagid pads for track. The pad spec I want for track aren't available in other pad depths by both ferodo and pagid.

The D42 pads might leave a small step on the rotor. Is it alright to swap between such a track and street setup? 15 or so track days a year.

I am going to warn you right away with what happened to me last season.

On my front 9660 kit I ran ferodo ds11.1 for track and Porterfield R4S for street. My vendor told me it did not matter if the R4S were a little bit smaller.

I did a track day on a small track with the street pads and fresh rotors but still pushed qui a bit, the day after you could clearly see the rusted ridge on the outside and the squeal was insane.

So I swapped to Hawk Blues and tried to get rid of the ridge/rust, I tried really hard two times and now everytime I but the damn smaller street pads that damn ridge squeals like crazy !

May be less on the rear but if you can use a pad that fully cover the disc do it, it will save you this kind of headache later !

You will want the exact same pad sweep between your street and track pads to prevent any premature wear and noise.

This exactly.

Running a pad with a smaller disc sweep area on track (or any other time) than your road pad and you will have a nightmare once you put your street pads back in.

Any vendor that says otherwise needs deleting from your contacts.

Let us know if you are looking for Pagid, Ferodo, Porterfield, PFC or Hawk.
