For an M2 CS, a 10% discount ain't impossible.

I'd wager in the first 6 months or so in the US it will be impossible... if for some reason allocations don't sell out right away, then maybe that will become true. From what I can tell everything in my area is sold out. I've talked to three dealerships in about a 200 mile radius and there are 2-3 people on waitlist (and they turned away others in some cases) for each allocation expected at this point. Not any negotiating happening in that environment.

I feel like there's been quite a few folks commenting lately that they've let allocations go...I wonder if certain dealerships are having a hard time getting commitments at this point. Very interesting.

I do think it's less true on the GTS models - because those come with more options as standard, there are less "obvious" things to add. The new 718 GTS 4.0 will probably start around ~88-90K...I think the options I would add get it into the 95K range...compare that to an M2CS with DCT at 88K....well, which would you rather have, for a relatively small price delta? I love the S55 and have had many BMWs, but you can't even buy a new BMW with a naturally aspirated motor anymore. The 718 GTS 4.0 is a game changer, because it shows Porsche is dedicated to providing the enthusiast with options below the GT4 / Spyder. I will definitely be looking to pick one of those up in the next 4-5 years (CPO of course).

It will come - after it shows up in 2021 for the GT4 and Spyder.

The M235i, in early 2014, was marked-up because as I was told by my dealer; it's a "niche" model.. And the M2, I remember I was blowed away by it's $51,700 base price, which was the BMW bargain of the decade IMO but the dealer had only one, on the showroom floor, with a few cosmetic bits, proudly adorning a $65,000 price tag.. As if I suspect the M2 CS will sell out for sticker because of the limited units. There are a lot of people that believe that this model would recreate the supple/demand jackpot, like what happen with the 1M. Who knows, maybe it will.. : I doubt the dealer's will discount the CS much, if any, when there is only 500 available, in the whole country of 325 million people. To be honest, I like it and although it a lavish expense, if I could of swing it, I would throw my hat in the ring, to get me one. |

Been offered 12% but turned it down anyway because of the price and the even harsher difference to the M2C (almost 29 % off of net price for diplomats).
The delta for the two is at roughly 33k Euros which I just can't ignore. That's a shitload of money for a car that has 40 hp more and some nice upgrades. Nevertheless, both are awesome cars of the sort that we will dearly miss in the years to come - that I am sure of. Cheers |

Limited production and a manual. This car will not have a problem selling in the US. Not sure about other countries.
When some photos come out of it in HS and White with the CF roof and the hood getting more presence against a lighter color in outdoor lighting, people will appreciate the car more, not to mention driving reviews, etc.... this limited number will easily be absorbed. One thing about all the 2 series cars, the cars they compete against are far more expensive so they always look like a bargain when cross-shopping. Hopefully the M2cs is a home run and is the tide that lifts all 2 series boats. It has been a great enthusiast platform, IMO. |

Though I can be diplomatic, I'm no diplomat and merely inquired as Joe Public: M2 CS: 10% discount | M2C: 23% discount | Price delta (discounts included): approx. €33K Or to quote my favorite currency: an obscene amount of fuel tanks for spirited mountain drives. Find me in the mountains this Spring with my 2020 M2C.

I think people are getting the M2C for 10% off in some US locals. That would be a base price if $53,100. before tax and license. So that would be about a $30k Delta.

For your information guys... I am getting offered M2 CS cars left, right and center since the end of last week. I did some digging and I heard that BMW is planning to make more than 2200 pieces of the CS.
Dealers in certain BMW M specific countries have asked the headquarters to produce more, because they think they can sell more. It is unknown what this means for the total amounts and specific countries. It is peculiar that the dealers whom are offering me the cars are all offering me April/May production slots, which if you are planning to make more is a rather intriguing thing. Interesting development... If you missed out at your dealer, make sure to run back and see what they say. You might be able to pick one up, with discount even!!! No premiums here in Europe, but decent double digit discounts for the M2 CS. This is something I did not expect. I was really thinking that they had a hard time getting rid of them, because of the hefty price tag. Time will tell what the real reason is, but it is interesting to see that out of nothing slots and cars are being offered. Oh and for your information, I won't get one myself. My M2C is getting new brakes next month and some other things done. In a few months time, mine has all the CS parts I fancy, is lighter, handles better and offers better performance. MR |
