2018 M Track Days

https://mtrackdays.bmwusa.com/site/

Website is live and can sign up now (signing up for half day at COTA). Full day seems steep for $750, might as well do 2 half days for $500

Yeah I feel like the other $500 is to rub shoulders with Bill Auberlen more than drifting in the M5. Signed up for Monday morning.

I just saw this. I put a posting in NW forum on the same subject yesterday. It is coming to The Ridge Race Track in Washington.

I did the one at Monticello Motor Club in NY last year and had a lot of fun but wondering if there is a reason to go again so “soon”.
Considering this more of a test drive of newer cars but not much has changed since last year.
Any reasons to go that I’m missing?

I'll be @ COTA on the 28th. Decided to do the full-day.

Most likely be the same event. I heard from the dealer the drag strip thingy they set up, you will get to drive the M5 so that should be fun.

I also assume they will have the M2 comps to drive, well they better

I'm doing it so I can drive on COTA. Did it last year too but the price to drive an M3 and M4 that's not mine on that track is worth it to me. Try out a different track or come try COTA.

$250 gets you in the door as a promotional tool.
A 4 hour time slot gets you a free minutes at the wheel in several different cars.

The extra $500 is " NOT YOUR CAR " money.
Not your tires. $
Not your brakes $
Not your gas. $
Not your insurance ...

BMW CCA has ran multiple day HPDE at COTA for several years (since 2013) and we have kept the price to around $300-400 a day (driving your own car.) Membership has its privileges. There have been many other for profit HPDE organizations charging as much as $599-849 a day driving your own vehicle.

The place ain't cheap to rent. It's the most expensive track in the country by a long way. They are probably still paying Bernie.

Want to easily drive a full day for under $500? ... get a real education and attend a BMW CCA HPDE at COTA for less and learn to drive *your car * ( whether its new or old , a BMW or non BMW) better.

PS.. I've met Bill auberlen at a BMW CCA dinner. There is no extra charge (at the customer level ) at an event for him to appear.

How is my math off? I stated that I'm doing this so I can drive COTA.
$250 for a half day is a great deal. I did it last year and as soon as I finished our group talked about doing it the following year.
I'm just not sure the extra $500 is worth it for the full day since it doesn't mention extra laps but rather a skidpad.

Your math is off because you don't *also* consider $750 a day at COTA in a vehicle where you have zero expenses as a helluva fucking deal.

To spend a half day driving someone else's vehicle for $250 is a gift, and is also a steal if it were half of the full day price at $375.

I've been thinking about it but I've been to Thermal twice already. The competition aspect is appealing though. I think I'll save the money for other track days.

I signed up for Saturday November 3rd, 8am.

I'm pretty sure we can see some M2 Competitions there in the parking lot. I remember in 2016 I saw some preproduction M2's around the Thermal compound in various places.

Tempting.....I have been to Monticello before with another manufactures event ( sorry), but it was a blast. I am actually not on call that weekend (I make the schedule now LOL).

Thank you for posting this! I was checking periodically but had not checked in a few days.

Signed up for a full day in Monticello and can't wait! It's my first ever tack day actually. Felt that it's a little crazy to go full day but I figured 8 hours of driving not-my-M car for $750 is significantly cheaper than what I'd spend on my own car for tracking it for that long.

I signed up for the course in Cali. Its a bday present to myself and going to make a trip of it. And then I see this and its much cheaper and I'm like
