[QUOTE=BigKutta;25843832]Awesome! How you liking the M so far?[/QU

Short answer...This is the best all around car I have ever owned. I love pushing it to the limits and how it rewards it by making me look like I know what I am doing. lol

How do owners like the auto-rev matching feature?

It's fun, makes it more enjoyable to drive IMO. Ive been driving manual cars since before I had my license, downshifting and heel-toe'ing are easy to me. But just driving around in the M, whether on some curvy back roads having fun, or just putting around the city, it makes it fun. If I want to really focus and get the most "connected" feeling possible, I'll just turn TCS off and do it myself.

I might end up coding it off at some point so I don't have to have TCS completely off, but for now I like it.

Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, I enjoy rev matching myself, but glad it's just as fun and you don't miss it.

Installed the new wheels, new mudflaps, and new brake pads.

BC Forged TD01 in Matte Bronze
19x9 22
19x10 32
Michelin Pilot Sport 4s
255/35
275/35

Rear looks surprisingly stretched.

Hawk Performance Ceramic pads. Rears don't have a slot for the brake pad wear sensors. Also they have that small click when you go from reverse to forward as the pads move in the calipers. Otherwise they're feeling good so far after a few miles around the neighborhood.

Have any rear shots of the mudflaps? Hard to see from the front 3/4.

Also, wheels look good. So many good options it's hard to narrow it all down.

Don't have too many pictures at the moment. This is the closest angle I have right now. I had the automotive passion ones which were nice but they would flap at highway speeds sometimes and these are a little thicker/heavier and slightly bigger to pair with my wider tires and lower offset.

And yeah I wanted to go a different route. Originally wanted to TE37s but so many complications with that. I like the 763m or the Apex mesh style wheels too but decided to go with something else.

Michelin makes two different Pilot Sport 4S 275/35/19 tires so you might want to double check to see which ones you got

One has a 9.8" tread width

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...XLV2&tab=Specs

While the other is only 8.9"

How are the Hawks doing with dust? I ended up going a different direction with wheels too after you advised I couldn't get TE37s. Going to confirm the order tomorrow so don't want to say anything before then lol.

Yeah, that's seems to be it. I got mine from Costco and whatever one they had in stock was what I got, welp. Guess that means I have to burn these up

I only put maybe 4 miles on them so far so I can't say.

That seems strange that there is close to an inch difference for tires that are both 275 width? Is that normal?

One tire is SL (Standard Load) rated at 1,565 lbs. with a tread width of 8.9" and the other is XL (Extra Load) rated at 1,764 lbs. with a tread width of 9.8".

The XL tire is reinforced and has a stiffer ride which probably accounts for the wider width, so it can carry more load spread out over the width.

Tire Rack's explanation.

It kind of seems strange to me that the width is 1 inch different on the same tire with just a different load rating. It might be a tire rack typo. In any case, the M2 original tires as well as the Cup2s are XL rated so I'd opt for that one.

Edit: I actually checked the MPS4S in 255/35/19. It has a 92Y SL with 8.2" width and a 96Y XL with 8.9" width so the load rating and width difference must be a thing.

Do you mind sharing what Hawk pads you installed? Part numbers?

I read somewhere that if you reuse the rear clips from the OEM brake pads they won't move in the caliper.

And to make things even more confusing there is a 3rd 255/35/19 MPS4S

It's a BMW star spec (for which vehicle and location I don't know)

According to the Tire Rack, it's also a 96Y XL

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...XLV3&tab=Specs

It supposedly has a 9.0" tread width (versus 8.9") and weighs 25 pounds (versus 24 pounds)

Front - HB828Z.760
Rear - HB193Z.670

I do remember reading that before but it didn't come to mind at the time. The hardware around the pad did feel a little loose.

Few days into dailying with them and they feel really good. Still have good bite and not getting any noise besides the click going from reverse to forward. Can't say I could do a fair judgment on dust just yet. Since I changed my wheels from the stock gloss black to matte bronze I don't have a good visual. All I see is the rust that came off the rotors since I wash the car every Saturday. So maybe after this Saturday when I wash them I can get a better idea looking at how dirty the wheel bucket water and my brushes get.

Also the remnant OEM brake pad material on the rotors are probably still coming off.

Going to wait for a month or so before I update my thread about them.

I wouldn't swear to it, but I think I remember someone saying that the 255 Star spec was meant for a rear tire of some smaller model... don't quote me 😂.

just out of curiosity where did you get those part numbers....

I went to the Hawk website and got part number for the front: HB765Z.664
but none for the rear

I found other cars that use the same pad size and searched that part number. Most places don't say it fits the M2 but I just trusted in the pad size and it fit.

Alice's, nice! Where did you start and why aren't you posting invites before hand?!

I usually do that drive once a month. I live in Campbell so I start in Saratoga and go up Highway 9.

My buddy and I do the same! I'm based in SF and he is in SJ.

Sorry guys just saw this. I just got my M2 and just started driving with a group of guys that grew up in my hometown. Specifically a Viper ACR and his friends, my buddy in his RS3, etc.

Looking forward to some BMW drives with y'all soon.
